Ohhhhhhh looks much better in my opinion. I'm liking the 'more white' livery. I noticed they switched to Akras from Termi, must be the Audi influence

They switched to Akra's late last season - story goes that Hayden and Dovi complained the Termi was too loud and distracting.

Slightly off topic, but Rogers dropped the Speed channel. Someone else picking up the broadcasting for MotoGP or do we have to stream the races?

* Edit - just saw the other thread!

Again it's stifling development! GP is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorcycle technology... now (maybe it already has been for a long time...) it seems purely about money.

How do you figure? They can still write their own software and the Dorna ecu doesn't seem to be doing too bad. There needs to be a compromise. Many manufacturers won't sign up because they don't have the budget to compete with Honda & Yamaha. The spec ecu should help level the playing field without dumbing it down. The corner by corner settings being used now are too much and they're hurting the racing.

Yeah, that's a good point, if teams can't afford to be competitive. I suppose in the end if the racing series isn't making enough money, then it must not have the fans, and fans will lose interest if it's always Honda vs Yamaha. Then again it's pretty much been Honda vs Yamaha for a long time already.

Take for example Moto2. As soon as it was declared a spec engine class, Aprilia said "We will not be designing a motorcycle around Honda's engine" and dropped out of the series completely. It's an extreme example, but the spec engine has completely stopped engine development in Moto2. Frame, suspension and brakes are still up to the teams at least. It has successfully made for very exciting, close racing though.

They're strangling motogp. Soon it's going to be as boring and pointless as Formula One.

I would'nt say it's stifling development. It's providing an even footing electronically for all riders. Honda and Yamaha, as well as all other manufacturers are able to contribute to the software and help make it better with their existing code. The only stifling to future development I can see would be if Honda or Yamaha decide not to contribute anything towards the spec ECU, or Honda having a hissy fit and leaving the sport

I think it's a good move on Dorna's part; it closes the gap electronically while allowing the manufacturers to distinguish themselves with their hardware and riders

It's pretty clear that NGM Forward Racing & Ducati have a great opportunity, but that hinges on the misfortunes of the factory riders. It's pretty clear that only wet races and early retirements/accidents will see the Open riders rise to the top.

HRC's Livio Suppo was really blunt, "in a normal race, i think it's difficult to see somebody that is not called Dani, Marc or Jorge on the podium; in a race where the weather changes or something, anything can happen"

/\ /\ Agree with this

Yeah, very true. Honda and Yamaha certainly are the ones making the highest investment in MotoGP, with clearly less of a focus on WSBK than Kawasaki and Suzuki. Suzuki really doesn't seem strong anywhere anymore, in terms of factory investment in racing.

That is most likely the case, but I wouldn't count Rossi out, he seems to have gotten more comfortable on the M1 and had very good results in testing. I think his championship days are behind him, but I think he's going to be on the podium more often than he was last year

I'm looking forward to Suzuki coming back to MotoGP, with the right riders they could be a very big wild card next season
