Moto gear at Motorcycle Show

Hope to get some "bonus" money around new year and spend it on some gear - suit, new jacket, boots, helmet, etc.

Do you think it worth waiting till Motorcycle Show in Jan instead of boxing day sales?

Many years back I bought al my gear at shows, how was the stock/sizes availability at recent years shows?

Thanks.

You won't really know until you go.
The past is irrelevant.

Last "bike show" I went to was more of a "end of line, discontinued crap we couldn't sell last year extraviganza"

This has basically never paid off for me, prices on anything I've wanted have always been meh and vendors were not willing to budge. And that's in the rare cases they actually had something I wanted

I wonder how they will be for trying on things like helmets this year. That GP Bikes is so crowded all the time. It will be interesting.

I betcha the crowds will be smaller. No vaccine? = you are not getting in.
I sure wouldn't want to be a security guard at the door. Ii would think that there will be a lot of hard and softcore antivaxxers in the attendees who are just itching for a fight. Many probably aren't even interested in motorcycles but just being crap disturbers.

I'm on the fence about going. Not so much worried about contracting COVID, but I expect it will be a long line/wait and a hassle just to enter. At the same time I DESPERATELY want to go do something that I really enjoyed.

And.... you get to pay an entry fee for the privilege of spending your money..

F... that

I heard pro 6 is having its own bike show and sale at their shop. Gonna have some cool bikes on display , MV , Bimota , Aprilia , Derbi , and more.
And they’re going to offer the same sales and discounts they would is if they were at the show. I like this better, no admission fee, no parking issues, no crowds and you get to see cool stuff up close.

Interesting, would be nice to visit this one and check them out. There is nothing on their website - post up when you know more about this.
Thanks,

Somebody rents a huge 6 hall facility and organizes 50 or 60 motorcycle shops plus 10 beef jerky shops, that I can go to, all in 1 day and I don't have to pay for parking. I have no problem paying them $20 to go in.

haha, thanks - I got the "beef jerky" reference now.. IMO 25 bucks is nothing nowadays for me with all the things I don't do because of Rona.. so any reason to be out is a good one. Cheers

IMHO vendors should pay for the privilege of vending their wares...

They do, however... they can pay moar.

Then just add it to their prices so that attendees rnd up paying...

Wait...wut..?

Got a pair of leather winter gloves for $10 years ago. Still wear them.

Also got a pair of $10 summer gloves, and an $80 snell certified helmet that are done.
But they were useful for the course, when I didn't know if I wanted to ride, or would be any good at it.

hahaha, I love it when people who have never owned a business, tell these places how they should run it.
I don't know about now, but before Covid it cost the vendors a ton to set up at these shows. (cost of space, staffing,
trucks for moving all stock there and back, closing their store for that weekend)
Now they should pay "moar" or more, so they get the privilege of discounting all their gear to make the buyers
happy. And even then, the odd buyer will still ask them for an extra 10% or 20% off.
Ask Pro 6 what it cost them to come to these shows, and how much "profit" they made at the end of the weekend.
And Hack, I don't see you as a GTAM Site Supporter, but why should you give this place even $10, they have the privilege
of having you come here and post.
