Mosport (rdt) Gpbikes

Did anyone get an idea of how much space was left when they signed up? I was thinking about showing up and registering the morning of (if I can get the bike ready to go). I emailed Jeff at GPBikes yesterday, but haven't received a reply.

When I went in I asked the guy, and he said only glass on bike taped down. Didn't say anything about antifreeze to me.
just use water pls
in case you crash and spill antifreeze on the track. tht stuff is very slippery and you dont want to ruin some1elses day.
definetly tape on all glass, and makeshure you are not leaking any liquids(engine oil, fork oil, brake fluid, water)
see you at the track

I think the novice group is pretty much full (signed up Friday). Not sure about the rest of them. Try calling.

Shop is closed today unfortunately. I may just show up and take my chances. I'd like to reiterate that everyone should have either straight water, or water plus water-wetter. I haven't read GPBikes' trackday policies recently, but I'd be shocked if they didn't indicate that antifreeze must be completely flushed from the system. This is for everyone's safety.

Their logic in the past is that they are catering to novices so to make it easy for newcomers they just need the glass taped up.

I don't understand that logic. Changing the coolant is easier than changing the oil and takes about the same amount of time. If antifreeze actually is allowed, I'll stay away from these days in the future. One overheating bike could have serious consequences.

Looks like it was allowed. Pretty stupid on the organizer's side if you ask me.

I would hazard a guess and say that most non track riders don't know how to change the coolant, and it would take much longer than an oil change.

Anyone looking for pics from May 21st give me a shout. I've got almost 1300 that were taken by my buddy's mom with her gigantic lens setup. I've only got the jpeg files right now but if anyone is really interested she's got them all in RAW format as well for prints etc. and I'm sure I could get a hold of some. The jpegs are really good enough if you just want them on your computer, they're 4256 × 2832.

Pretty sure I have some from each group.

I had good time yesterday weather was great, no real hold up or problems, Jeff and gp host a good day!! Any pics??
NO REAL HOLD UP?????????
they made a 4th group for only 5 supermoto bikers, so all groups had to wait 45min to get on track, they started late, good thin there was only 1 red flag, becuse head track marshal and all track orgainnsers still had the track closed afther ems got off track and the crashed bike was of track, there was no clean up to do where the rider went down.
no real hold up

when i went to complain to jeff about the 4th group that he made, cause we will all get less track time now, his answer was he doing it for safety, the 4th goup guys ride way to crazy, so let them kill each other. and as for not geting enough track time his answer well thats why we added an extra day this year.

but mybe this was you 1st track day and you dont know how it supse to be run. go to cayuga, GWB runs track days there. they do real safety inspection, they are on time, organised, and they dont make a 4th group for the ppl who dont want to falow the rules.
GP Bikes is a good store , but track day organisers no way.
rant over.

cant wait for june 9th calabogieeeeee

There was 6 of us. Doesn't help that the guy was 2010 supermoto champion for how fast he was, but even most of the other sumo guys were insanely fast. It is kind of unfair to but in the end I think it was a good idea for safety.

Wow if you thought that was a hold up than you've never experienced real down time at any large tracks. Spill at mosport? That's gonna be at least an hour. As for the late start You can blame the EMS ( you know the people that will help keep you alive) for their late arrival. I'm pretty sure the track are the people that book them, not GP. As for the 4th group, did you ride in the red group with any of those guys? Supermoto lines are way different on that track that SS lines. Having a bunch of guys diving into the inside of the corner sliding sideways, gets to be a piss off when you take the time to setup for the corner nice. If anything making a separate group for them probably avoided some crashes. I guess you can't please everyone, people in red complain about safety, people everywhere else complain about not enough time. Some of the fastest guys out there were on supermoto including a ex pro Canadian superbike rider. I've been to many a track day and learned not to get ****** when there are hold ups, there will always be down time. You need to relax and worry more about what your doing and less about what others are. Btw the reason why they didn't start up the group after the crash was probably because they had not cleared the rider. If he would have gotten a ride to the hospital you woul have had to wait even longer. They can't let other riders out to get hurt when the EMS is busy with someone else.

I agree Safety is the most important thing at a track day, I've seen may bad accidents at the track, not only Is it bad for the rider but it's bad for EVERYONE the organizers and the other riders. Unfair would have been the track shut down for an a few hours waiting for another ambulance to arrive and with a clean up and 2 riders in the hospital

I was passing and I called in for about 45 mins and caught the Supermoto group. Pretty cool. There were a couple of fast guys. Who were they? Do they race locally?

I've a 2010 RMZ450. Got me thinking about springing for a set of 17" rims and a front brake and having a go.

Wow. Never been on that section of Mosport .. looks fun.

Some of the corners look really rough, like shannonville. Is that true or was that the quality of the video ?

The guy who I personally think was the fastest out of everyone there was Dave Arnold. He won the 2010 Canadian Supermoto Championship, so yeah he is fast. Don't know the other guys, they were a couple easy up's over.
