Twenty-something year old who goes on about the militarization of police, seems to have a bit of a Putin fetish, and a similar fetish for firearms. Killed three RCMP officers. Wounded two others.
My uncle was a Moncton police officer. When RCMP took over enforcement in Moncton he moved to that force, and continued to serve. Now he's working down around St. Steven which is at the Maine border, and on Highway 1. The TCH access is maybe a block over from where the officers were shot and hits Highway 1 not far west of Moncton.
Interesting twist. Locals say, where this happened, it's a quiet neighbourhood. This isn't supposed to happen there. Even the news readers on the telly are saying that now.
Still early days but I'm guessing rehabilitation of the shooter might prove challenging.

It's Moncton. Saying that a neighbourhood is quite there, is like saying there's a store on Yonge Street.
They don't. Nutjobs who get hold of them kill people, which is why we need better ways to track nutjobs.
"No prior run-ins with police." No reason to believe that they were anything but legal.

He looks so macho and completely sane inhabiting his own little persecuted world. His parents must be so proud. I thought the Rambo look was out for this summer though.
