The system works….I feel guilty not tipping in some situations. But then I remember WTF…the worker did nothing to help me and I get over it.

I go to the one at Keele/7 a couple times a week. Nice people that work the counter just doing a job and get treated like **** by customers all day long. Try to keep that in mind. The one I go to at Keele/7 was bad before the pandemic. Now the line is around the building.
I bought a bike in Erin summer 2020, needed to transfer ownership so I could ride it home. Went to the nearest SO, 20 min away.
They told me they were working on a reservation system and to come back tomorrow. Explained my situation to them but they refused to help. Had to then drive all the way to Alliston and back. SO and its workers can go get ******. The clear license plate covers they used to sell dont even fit our license plates and are apparently illegal in Ontario. Clowns

The only restaurant where I consistently tip well is the one I used to go to often (Albatross Pub) because we love the place.I generally tip well if the service is good. It doesn’t take much for me to drop down to zero tip and I don’t feel bad. I deal with ass**oles every day and don’t get extra for it.
I also know many that work in the service industry and they make a lot of cash income that is undisclosed. If you’re not getting tips you probably aren’t good at serving people

I've increased tipping during the covid mess. Starting to return to old ways now as things normalize. The way I saw it, I ate out less and many of restaurants and staff were taking a beating so helping them out was reasonable. On take out I was normally tipping 10%, 20% for dine-in (25% occasionally). The only restaurant where I consistently tip well is the one I used to go to often (Albatross Pub) because we love the place.
Which reminds me....need to check if they re-opened up again.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for large portions of good food!
LoL I never know what to tip. $124 with tax and $20 is my standard. Too much? Too little?

Interesting. My SO friend tries very hard to hire friendly staff even though they cant afford to pay well. The government office is full of crotchety people that give a rats ass about customer service as they make their money either way and their job is easier if less people come through the door.I only use the privately owned SOs. Always more tellers on duty and they're usually faster and more pleasant.
And all CxOs will quit their jobs and will be replaced by the external consultants... with the same names.Growth is not required. In my quick numbers, assuming that businesses had at least one minimum wage employee, the boss of the small company could make 180K and the boss of rogers could make about 1.5M. If the small company boss wanted to make 250, they can increase the comp of the bottom person (or people) to ~42K or increase the number of people employed to change the multiplier. No growth is required and 180 is nothing to be ashamed of. It just provides a growth path that pulls the team along, not just the top of the pyramid.
Possibly. Not sure on the logistics of stock options to consultants. Consultants are also allowed to work for more than one company. No system is perfect but it's hard to imagine a system much more imbalanced that the current implementation without slavery. And all CxOs will quit their jobs and will be replaced by the external consultants... with the same names.
You dont necessarily need an education to beat minimum wage. It helps a lot to have connections. Sales are some of the best paying jobs and for many no formal education is required, just hustle.I'm going to get burned, but.....
Can't live on minimum wage?
Should have got an education.
Enjoy your $20 burger.

When I say 'education', I don't mean schoolin. Some of the dumbest people I know are the most "educated" people I know.
What percentage of 17 year olds today could pull that and end up with a comfortable retirement? When I say 'education', I don't mean schoolin.
I'm from a more 'mature' generation. Quit school at 17 when gf got pregnant. Basically grade 10 schooling.
Had a lot of on the job education and did manage a comfortable life. Now enjoying a very comfortable retirement.
Maybe I got lucky.
I still think ( maybe I'm wrong ) that there are jobs out there where you can make much more than minimum wage.
IF you are motivated enough.
