Does Dave have a website? Can't seem to find one? Or just as easy to call him?
Website lol - old school

Call between 12 and 430

Pitch is the distance between the barrels and the width of the side plates of the chain.

It's a common misnomer.

http://www.gizmology.net/sprockets.htm (refers to bicycle chains/sprockets but the terminology is the same)

525/520/530 refers to the width of the chain. The pitch (as mentioned above) refers to the distance between pins and is the same for 525, 520 and 530 chains/sprockets. You could fit a 525 chain on 520 sprockets but that will lead to increased stress on the chain and premature wear or possibly even failure.

:eek:ccasion5:

I will just order in the 525 sprockets to match the 525 chain I already have. I know every ounce counts when it comes do weight. So I'll take a dump before I head out. That will make up for the added weight.
Based on your guys discussion their may be a possibility of on even ware. Don't want to risk that. Or as noted above, failure. So being as I have everything else, I'll just match the sprocket to it.

Another guest ion if I can. As stated above I blew through one of my tyres. (Rear) it just happened that a couple weeks ago I got a very good deal from a friend on a Rossi 3. At the moment I run mich. Pilots. Now will it be a huge deal to replace the rear with the Rossi and keep the front pilot on (it's in good condition).
I'm sure their is a science and a ying yang thing. But tread pattern is alike. Compound is the same.
I've seen guys do it (at least at the track in a pinch) so jut like your thoughts.

Ha, you had me stumped for a minute with "Rossi 3". Might you mean Pirelli Diablo Rosso II? I don't think there is a III yet is there?

Not sure what you mean by "compound is the same". They are different companies. Anyway, personally I wouldn't mix tires for track use. On the road I have combined sport front tires with sport touring rears, but even then they were from the same company and had the same profile. It can sometimes work okay but I wouldn't even consider it for the track. Not sure why I say that....I guess I figure that subtle differences in the tires might become a lot less subtle at 50 degrees of lean. I don't think I have ever seen a bike on the track with mismatched tires, except of course for different compounds of the same racing tire.

This is why you don't text an drive. Let alone text and drive early in the morning. What you say makes perfect sense. I've herd both sides. But I don't think track and different tyre companies mix. And yes Rossi 2 is what I was referring too!
Well more money I guess, and get another front to match !

Rosso. "Rossi" is an arguably has-been Italian MotoGP rider with tax issues. "Rosso" is the masculine singular form of "red" in Italian. So, Diablo rosso = red devil.

Not sure I would've called Gretzky a had been when he played for the rangers

Specially when he is currently second on the world Championship points. Rossi that is

That's a good link - I'll add some detail for you. The chain size for motorcycle chains specifies both pitch and width. The first digit is the pitch in eights of an inch, and the second two are the width (of the rollers) in eightieths of an inch. So for an 525 chain (for example) you have a pitch of 5/8" (the distance from roller to roller), and a roller width of 25/80" = 5/16" (see Tim's link for more numbers). When buying chain and sprockets, ensure they are all of the same size (525 chain needs matching 525 sprockets) for correct (and safe) function/fitment. It would be silly to mix and match (even if it fits).

Re: mixing tire brands front and rear, I've seen it done with the same class of tires, but most don't recommend it due to potentially different levels of grip and/or tire profiles that may not work well together.

Informative link. Thanks.
After doing some more research I am 16/46.
I ordered a 15. Unfortunately they only offer a 47 for my bike. So will running 15/47 make much difference. As you guys suggested adding 2 in the rear. Unfortunately given my year of bike they don't offer a 48 until 2001.

As for the rubber, I will be ordering in a match for the front and run the pirellis after I rip through these pilots.
