M2 to m price diff?

If you don't have your auto policy with them make sure that doesn't include the multi-vehicle discount (Mine is $50 off my bike premium)

with state farm, plan A or plan B makes a big difference.

Yeah my family has 3 cars under them.
I think the difference is $20 or so from liability and full coverage

Then you're definitely on Plan A. Multi-car discounts, etc etc etc.

Still, very good GTA rates.

Wouldn't surprise me.

A friend of mine who has just got his M2, doesn't even have his full G, has a worse driving record and is trying to insure a Brand New R6 with Full coverage....and he is getting lower quotes than what I got for my '97 VFR750 with Liability/Theft.
Cause he doesn't live in Brampton.

It doubt it has much to do with Brampton -- rates vary significantly by region for AUTO insurance, but not so much (if at all) for Bike insurance.

There are a lot of factors but I think where you live has a lot to do with it. I live with my parents near chincousy and Williams and I have a rental property near steeles and chincousy. Just out of curiosity I got a quote for my car as if I was living in my rental and the difference was $50+ a car. And that's just 10 mins down the road. Just as a kicker my 26yo sister had a 2010 civic and she pays more then my 05 c class. both clean record.

As I mentioned -- rates DO vary significantly by region for car/auto insurance, but not so much for bike insurance.

When I was with Statefarm I asked where I shoudl move to lower my Motorcycle premiums and they said "Anywhere West of Winston Churchill Blvd would save you considerably."

Either way they find any excuse to raise the premiums, and ignore every reason to lower them.

Perhaps State Farm rates motorcycles regionally. Has anyone received two quotes at the exact same time for the same bike/rider from State Farm -- one in Toronto, and one outside of Toronto?

My parents has fire and theft on the house and I'm pretty sure that the unisured bike would be covered in that anyways.
Absolutely NOT the case. Vehicles are specifically excluded from all home insurance policies.

You'll pay about $7/mo for full coverage for your bike for the winter/non-riding months, you would be STUPID to leave it uninsured for even 1 day.

All they want is you over 25.
The magical number for State Farm is 21, not 25 (assuming you got your G1 when you were 16).

+1 To the adding full coverage for the winter months cheapest and most secure way to go as it is about @% of your yearly premium.

As for the magic number I'm just going by what State Farm told me:

I asked what are things to lower your insurance,

They said "Lower cc's, Have your car license for 5 years, and be over 25"

Things that don't matter to them "M1, M2 or M, Motorcycle Experience, Motorcycle Safety Course"

State Fart.. i know most people on here are crotch rocket riders. But if you ride a standard or cruiser, go to Riders Plus, they will beat any other companies rates, and they do give a discount for having a motorcycle course certificate. Also, most of the insurance companies that i talked to didn't care at all about G license, and said it had no bearing on the rates you get for your bike insurance. I haven't had a G in over 15 years, i used nothing but public transport until getting my m2 this summer, and i still got a really good rate at under 1000k a year at Rider Plus.

So for my unplatted bike wouldn't be covered under my home insurance. Wouldn't it be like if I had a atv or dirt bike?

I believe it would not be covered if you haven't specified it on your home insurance and it is approved by them.
Easy answer Call them and ask.

Motor vehicles are specifically excluded from your home policy. Your ATV and dirt bike aren't be covered either -- they need their own policy.

You become eligible for State Farm starting at 21yo, but your big rate decrease isn't until you turn 25yo. The age that drops your premium with most insurers is 25, with a few exceptions that use 30 (such as TD).

I thought with state farm it's 25 for females and 30 for males right?! Maybe Katherine can chime in.

damn i need to call them asap! How my policy works is for the year I pay $1020 so they break it down to 12 equal payments. I figured if i called them spring time to insure my bike i would save $425 (Nov-Mar). i'll ask about adding it to my home insurance.
