M2 exit exam and insurance

I'm with J R Duffy and I didn't get any discount when I went from M2 to M.

I was clearly talking about a Ninja 250. On a CBR125 you shift mid turn... i never said it wasn't possible...

I know, I was just implying I dunno what to do on my 125 for the test if I can't shift in the mid of intersection.

Why can't you quickly shift into second gear before you turn? Thats what i do on my Ninja. If you are already in the middle of the intersection and stopped, you can just keep it in first and shift into second when it straightens out. Or have you tried starting from second? It works on mine.

I actually used to start on 2nd regularly but then changed to start on 1st. Maybe I'll go back to that habit for the test.

I just wasn't sure if starting in 2nd is allowed on the test.

Are you guys positive that you are not allowed to shift through an intersection? Especially if you are only going straight through? e.g at red light. This wouldn't make any sense. Especially if we are going through a larger 6 lane intersection at all approaches,. On a smaller size bike one would think they would have to shift to second before they reach the limits of the intersection in order to reach a safe operating speed. I don't recall anyone ever mentioning in my course that we aren't allowed to shift through an intersection Whether you are making a turn or going straight through.

Kinda off topic... But... I heard you're not allowed to shift in the middle of an intersection. Is this true?

I think you are correct. I just took a quick look at the M2 exist checklist. And there are items for changing gears through an intersection. Both in the stop at an intersection category and going through intersection category.
