Lowsided my bike

The Ninja 250R is a relatively cheap bike to fix compared to a super sport. I would personally buy a new side fairing, they aren't overly expensive. Check with your local dealer first before you commit to anything.

Glad you made it out with no real physical damage, it's a lesson learned. Keep the rubber side down and ride on, good luck!

Did you read the post? He already check his local dealer and they wanted 600$.

Hey if it's just cosmetic damage, ride it like that until you want to sell it. My bike is 100x worse and has a big hole in the tail fairing. But it adds character.

I don't know what the hell dealer said $600...I've been riding this bike for 5 seasons now and I know how much the fairings are. 3 years ago I got it from Kahuna for $330 after taxes, no way in hell it doubled...

All he said is "I don't want to go to Kahuna and pay $600 to fix it" which implies he's just arbitrarily picking a number and might not even have contacted them. Even if they charge an hour of labour its still nowhere close to $600.

That fairing can be swapped out in under 20 minutes.

Pm cheekeebandito, I think that's his name on here, he does plastic welding and repairs. I'm sure it will be cheaper then buying new

for $600 you could possibly get a whole new aftermarket kit...(just don't get any of those ebay ****)

Yup, there's no way it would cost $600 to replace one fairing. Also, there's no need to take it to a shop to get one fairing replaced. As he mentioned, it only takes about 20min to replace it yourself with the tools included in the tool kit.

Why not spend the money on better pants?
How you feeling today?

yikes. Your body will feel it for a few days. take it easy for now.

As for the bike, I'd say leave it. Tape up or zip-tie whatever parts came loose. Ride it as it is, and do the fix before you sell it.
If you decide to fix it, get frame sliders. All it takes is one drop and they pay for themselves.

IMO, be patient and look for replacement unless you come across someone that can repair for less. I'd like to replace with something and then experiment with the rash. Maybe camo or stealth flat black.

Yeah - get frame sliders - ignore the scrapes for now - gives you something to chat about.

Put the money into some knee protectors you can wear under your jeans. Not expensive -and they work as I can personally testify to.
Hole in the riding pants, scrapes on the armor, did not feel a thing. :D

Are you in one piece? That's what you should be focusing on.
If budget is tight, go with a 600 grit sandpaper and a can of plastidip. The two combined can create magic.

+1 to this. if it doesnt make noise or make riding harder for you just live with it while you can. if you spend $300 now, and a month later you go down again (knock on wood) then you will have just flushed money down the drain. if you don't care about the look of it so much, there is no harm in not fixing it right away.

I actually have the invoice of when the bike was dropped on the right side and broke the light and created a hole in the fairing. Total cost was 578.33$ including labor. It included pads and stuff like that.... i prob got ripped off at kahuna

I'll definitely grab knee protectors. Regarding the frame sliders, i read that you can't really find a place to put them.

I actually feel find, other then the soreness my knee doesn't hurt as much as yesturday.

Cherry pop!

p.s. Don't buy new fairings if its your first bike your going to drop it again; not going to change it every time. If you want get some fiberglass and Bondo filler and try to fix it your self and get just those panels painted.

Take off the side panel remove the Kawasaki stickers and put BMW badges on and ride it and tell people it's supposed to be assymetrical.

Wish I had known about sliders before I low sided mine. I found out the other day after taking off the fairing to fix my turn signals that the back left fairing on mine is actually cracked and split into two pieces, one piece only holding on due to two snap-ins.

That said, any recommendations for sliders for a kawi 250?
