What's with that anyway ??. Especially if you've sold them !! . Do you ever delete any after a decade or two ?. Is there a prize for having owned the most ?. Maybe points for certain models ?.

I have seen on other sites where they have a special thread for that for those that are so inclined. I think it's a bit overkill to list them every time you post though. Here is mine just for example :

1971 Honda 350 (sold)
1970 Triumph Daytona 500 (sold)
1974 Norton Commando 850 (sold)
1976 H-D XLH 1000 (stolen)
1972 Jawa DT 500 Speedway (sold)
2nd. 1974 Norton Commando (sold)
1970 Triumph Bonneville 650 (sold)
1986 Suzuki 750 Katana (sold)
1988 Yamaha FJ1200 (sold)
1984 Honda XL350 (sold)
198? CB 1100 F (sold)
2003 Triumph 955 Speed Triple
2014 Suzuki GSX 1250 FA

I'll let ya know if I sell or buy anything else, 'cos I know you are really fuggin' interested.

To each their own. I personally only think you should list what you currently own, but seeing what members have previously owned gives us insight to their riding style (and age). You may see they have owned something you currently have and will contact them asking for knowledge on repairs or upgrades. And yes, new to old is most proper.

fail
they're supposed to be in reverse chronological order

I can't, because there's multiple overlapping threads.

Thread 1, aside from the first one, "the high milers":
1984 Honda 450 Nighthawk (starter bike)
1987 Kaw Ninja 750 (wore it out)
1994 Kaw ZX9R (wore it out)
2004 Kaw ZX10R (current, and licensed for the road, but worn out)

Thread 2, "the race bikes":
1989 Kaw EX500
1989 Yam FZR400 (still have it, but it's retired)
2015 Yam R3 (current roadrace bike)

Thread 3, "the spare for the race bike that I might as well put on the road":
1990 Yam FZR400 (current, and licensed for the road)

Thread 4, "the cheap runabouts that I can ride in the winter and ride wide open all the time and not care":
2008 Honda CBR125
2011 Honda CBR125 (current, and licensed for the road)

Thread 5, "because":
The beast. (current, and licensed for the road)

You list the bikes you've owned as they are more personal, more intimate, than things that are more utilitarian such as cars. Probably why some won't sell their older bikes and often just keep them in their garage but don't insure or ride them. While I like my car, I love my bike.

This is a motorcycle enthusiast site.

Holy look at all the hyperlinks I did Not want in there!

Y'all should list all of your motorcycle competition national gold awards in your footer too

Is it similar to taking a selfie and showing it on your work desk. A picture of yourself. In case you forget who you are. Lol. Head injury?

I only list the bikes I really liked. Had a several others that came and went too quickly (less than 3000km) as they were 'meh' opinion bikes -- I don't list those.

This site is for enthusiasts, so I don't see why it's a problem to list past bikes. On more than one occasion I've had PMs from other members looking for advice or parts sources. I think listing bikes is a good thing.

I didn't know about the chronological order thing, I'll fix that up.

If you list the bikes across the signature and drop the font size to 9 and Times New Roman then it's not so space wasting and visually intrusive.

A lot can be told from that list.

Th list can tell a lot, or at least let someone create a story in their mind as to who you might be. How about this:

1) You are mid 60s
2) You raised a family starting late 70s early 80s
3) Your dad was a hard core motorcyclist, he rode real men's bikes made in Britian. You followed until you returned to motorcycles around 1990 after a hiatus, (possibly wife imposed) -- then you discovered Japanese bikes.
4) You are frugal.
5) You like speed, but your're not a knee dragger.

How did I do?

I've got pics of my past bikes and/or of myself on/with them as desktop backgrounds. Have started conversations about bikes that way when someone sees em. I don't work in one location.

On one PC, my photos are my backgrounds and changes often enough...like looking at a photo album whenever the background gets shown.
