License plate sticker renewal after lapse

I saw that. It's going to be an expensive trip to SO.

"People who have not renewed their products during the extended validity period will be required to pay the fee for previous years, in addition to the current year renewal fee."

"Driver’s licences, licence plate stickers, Ontario health cards, and Ontario Photo Cards must be renewed by Feb. 28, 2022, the government said Wednesday."
They seem to be doing fine with out the cash grab.
I didn't even get my renewal letter this year. 🤷‍♂️

I half expected the to raise the price as part of this announcement (and apply the higher price to past unpaid years). The writings on the wall, I expect sticker price to climb so I will be buying 2020, 2021 and 2022 for two vehicles. Ouch.

Looks like I can now renew my license online now that they are waiving the requirement for a new photo:

Driver's licences

Drivers under age 80 (Class G/M)

Class G/M drivers under 80 years of age with driver’s licences with expiry dates between March 1, 2020, and February 28, 2022, must renew their driver’s licence or Enhanced Driver’s Licence (EDL) by February 28, 2022.

We have waived the requirement to update your driver’s licence photo if your driver’s licence would have expired between March 1, 2020, and February 28, 2022. This means you can now renew your driver’s licence online. You don’t need to go in person to ServiceOntario to take a new photo.

Regular driver’s licence renewals will resume March 1, 2022.

I anticipate Douggie jacking the rate soon. Don't want too many people prepaying and avoiding the rate bump.
Well, looks like I might have been wrong. A week after spending $720 to renew stickers, a leak came out that Douggie may eliminate them. Damn electioneering. It is annoying but reasonable to pay for stickers (probably better to be mileage based but no system is perfect). Now, maybe he drops stickers but as part of your biannual safety you get a mileage based charged tacked on?
