Leather suit on the street?

i wish i had a 1 piece that was comfy enough to wear as much as possible. if you have the money to spend on a good fitting suit...go for it. Can't go wrong really.

I've had 2 two piece suits taylor made for me at IM leather to my design back in the day. Full circumference steel zipper at waist and looked like a one piece when mated together.

This would solve your dilemma.

A well-made and proper fitting one-piece will definitely offer superior protection but not if it stays in your closet because you don't like it for some reason. Have you considered textile overpants with armour? It's a compromise but would allow you to wear street clothes underneath. I had an HJC two-piece when I had my sportbike and found it ok for riding but a PITA going to work; always had to pack office wear. As forwhat others think, who cares? Do what's right for you. For a group that is supposedly in favour of freedom and individual choice vis a vis riding motorycles, I've never seen a more judgemental group than motorcyclists. P.S. Try the second hand market to save some money until you're 100% sure of what it is you want.

That would be the mantra of the cruiser rider. Sportbikers on the other hand, are obsessed with gear.

Those terms plus the term "respect" are so heavily marketed amongst the HD riding crowd...

There is no such thing as "freedom" and "individuality" when one has simply bought into the ideology of such terms through clever marketing. What exactly denotes "freedom" when riding? One is still bound by the parametres of traffic laws. And "individual choice" is far from apparent by the glut of identical bikes out there. Try slapping some fairings on an HD (and I'm talking about your Softail, not a Buell) and see how much truth there is to "individual choice" as all your buddies flame you. It's all conformity, dude.

Nah, it's all of 'em. HD, cruiser, sportbike, ATGATT, squid. And nobody likes scooters!Just sayin' the OP should do what he wants.

Personally I think if you want the added protection then go 2 piece.. after a 15-20 min session on the track I am sweating buckets in my one piece.. I would hate to have to go from that straight into my work suit or whatever lol

Drive north of steeles and the leathers start showing up.

Any hardcore ride I've seen up north (basically anywhere outside of toronto) wears either full leathers or full textiles.

More hardcore the rider, more chance they wear full protection when they ride.

At least this is my limited experience.

Where does one go to get a hardcore riders licence?

I have 2 x 1pc leather race suits. ....and 2 x 2 pc leather suits....and 2 x textile suits.

The 1 pc suits only get used at the track. I tried to wear one on a street ride once. That was the only time.....I wear a 2 pc leather suit when day-tripping in good weather, and/or riding like an idiot.
The rest of the time I wear textile suits. For touring, bad weather, or unkown weather on multi day trips, nothing can beat the versatility.

i used to wear my jeans and a my leather jacket but i started wearing my one piece suit and i find it better then jeans/jacket, i dont sweat that much in it i dont know what people are talking about. I crashed three times already, I really dont want to go through that pain again. As much as you wanna act tough, you'll be the biggest pussy when you get road rash.

Get a nice perforated 2 pc for summer, (I'm extremely happy with my Rev'It Tarmac leather jacket; on Saturday I actually went back home to switch to it after my textile roasted me too much)

If you wanna transition into track, a decent 1 pc suit around $1500 or less if you find used. They are great this time of year as it cools down in the evenings.

I wear my two piece along with full gauntlet gloves, Sidi boots, and helmet any time I am either going for a spirited country ride or riding pretty much anywhere other than Guelph. That's because for long country rides or on the 401 (which I need to take to get pretty much anywhere) the speeds are quite high. If I'm just riding into Guelph for a quick errand, I might wear my reinforced (with leather) jeans and leather jacket. But even with the leather reinforcement, I don't trust the jeans.

Got a two piece from Velocity custom made and love it and do not find it too hot or uncomfortable. Its got perferated leather in the right places so the wind comes through and I wear VNM gear under it.

Mind you I do not like wearing it for short trips around the city and have ordered some custom kevlar jeans and textiles for that. I feel vunerable in just jeans.

Personally I have always found a heavily perforated 1 piece as the most comfortable bit of riding gear. If it gets cold I just throw on a windbreaker on top of the leathers.

+1 when it gets cold I put my rain gear over top. Stops the wind and keeps the heat in.
