so I went for my consult and Im good for lasikI went to lasik md and the recommend the regular lasik does anyone have anything to say about it??was it worth the risks did you have any problems?? would you do it again??Thanks

I used to be dependant on eye glasses since the age of 6.
Had the laser correction done more than 10 years ago at LasikMD. The entire surgery took under 5 min, 2 min per eye basically. Felt like the whole new world opened up! The best feeling ever.

Had mine done when Y2K was the big talk .. 2 days afterwards i was worried about the computers taking over the world and scanning my eye balls out of my head.

Since than there has been huge changes to the surgery, and i wouldnt hesitate to have it done again ( if need be)

You do realize that it is roughly good till you are around 45 ish, and you will require reading glasses anyways.

When they use that Laser, they inserted a small camera in the back of the lense of the eye.

Been over 8 years now and I still have better than 20/20 vision.
Best decision I ever made, well worth the money.
It would be nice if benefits paid for it considering if you don't do it they have to pay for glasses for your whole life...

I met a guy golfing who had the redest eyes you have ever seen,he told me they screwed up his eyes, thats why I didnt get it done.

What hole were you on?
Usually mine are like that by the 18th when every other word is mulligan.

On a serious note, what is roughly the cost of this, most of the sites don't post price so I am assuming its a nice chunk of change.

well for me standard laser (which they recommended for my eyes) is $2400.00 which included the 5 year warranty Im 38 yrs old and the glasses are just pissing me off now wearing them 20 years now im just concerned about side effects dry eyes halos ect right now my eyes have no problems and my eye doc said I was good for laser correction and so did the lasik place

I had mine done 10yrs ago by TLC the first month sucked but has bee fantastic since no issues at all and I don't have to deal with losing contacts any more.

I had mine done (zyoptix wavefront lasik) at LasikMD in 2007. Best thing I've ever done, my vision is 20/15 or better and I had no complications at all.

I had LasikMD done ~5 years ago with a touchup in 1 eye last year. I am about -.75/-.25. Even though it's not perfect, I have never regretted it. I get some nighttime halos, but do not have any other symptoms.

Price was ~$4000 for the better procedure (Zyoptix?). Regardless of what any ads say, everyone I have talked to pays ~$2000 for the base lasik and ~$4000-6000 for the premium version.

I had mine done 11 years ago, back in glasses after 10. Could get them redone but not sure I'd ever allow them to put another eye clamp on me.

Assuming you are asking about LASIK (prk is a whole different procedure). The better procedure (the brand name changes based in the provider) removes less tissue and treats a larger diameter so there is less chance of halos.

Another thought, laser flap creation (as opposed to the microkeratome) is becoming more common. When I had mine done, the clinical outcomes were much better with the microkeratome (it creates a slightly textured surface that helps the flap stay put and it doesn't remove any material). Anyone wanting laser flap creation should investigate whether the outcomes have gotten better (I suspect all laser is common because the price has dropped and people don't want there eyes touched, not because it is a better medical procedure).

When I had mine done, I was also told that the more expensive procedure used a more precise laser and preserved the shape of the cornea. The "regular" Lasik basically flattens out the cornea.

I wish I was a candidate, my eyes are horribly buggered, I had a strabismus correction a year or so ago and i have been told by my opthalmologist that I could not get lasik as my one eye was so poor that I would be too high risk...

Anybody suffers from dry eyes post Laser eye surgery ? That seems to be the number one issue with some people.
If you had dry eyes, did they get worse after surgery ?

Did Lasik 2004 (Yonge & Don Mills) at the time it was $6400. Works great, no complications and no dry eyes .. I think I have less eye strain when reading now!.
Two things you should know.
- Depending on the correction you will lose depth perception for a bit (learned that the hard way pulling my car into my driveway)
- Go home afterwards and go to bed. I wished I had of.

Had mine done at LasikMD over ten years ago. $2200 for both eyes. I do require reading glasses now but that is a product of age and had I not had my distance corrected, I would be wearing bi-focals. Reading glasses are an insignificant trade-off.

Within a week of the procedure, my vision was 20/15 in both eyes and while I don't think my vision is as sharp now as it was, I still don't require glasses. I had no issues at all following the surgery - no halo bursts and my night-time vision improved considerably.

Laser surgery is great, but not for everyone. Don't cheap out, and get the best procedure you can. It's not good for people with mild prescriptions, and they often won't do them. Complications are extremely rare, and often the only issues arise from people doing dumb things with their eyes afterward.

I'd get it, but my prescription isn't bad enough. I wear contacts about 90% of the time instead.
