laskik eye surgery laser eye surgery

On a serious note, what is roughly the cost of this, most of the sites don't post price so I am assuming its a nice chunk of change.

The price varies with what type of surgery you need. Since i have astigmatisms and very bad eyes, I was quoted at $5000, give or take. I need the custom surgery to fix my eyes. :(

It would be nice if benefits paid for it considering if you don't do it they have to pay for glasses for your whole life...

Although not covered by benefits, you can claim laser eye surgery as medical expense when you fill out your tax return

My eyes are watering just reading this thread. Can't do it. Just can't.

why, is it the thought of someone poking your eyes, concern about the success of the procedure? When I had my strabismus repair, after i watxched the procedure on youtube. it was interesting, not something i think i would have wanted to see before the procedure

My eyes are -9 and -10. If I stopped buying motorcycle **** I would get this in a heart beat as even fat women look attractive to me when my glasses are off.

My eyes were -8. I spent about 4Gs. Took 15 minutes max. Best decision I ever made in my life. Best money spent. Ever. You won't regret it!
It wasn't painful at all. ZERO pain.

I went with Lasik MD at the Sheppard location.

What hole were you on?
Usually mine are like that by the 18th when every other word is mulligan.

ya the boys I golf with have red eyes and the munchies lol,I was quoted 5k 10 years ago.

Dry eyes is something i had for up to a year afterwards. I had to have multiple bottles of eye drops ( i cant recall the actual name now) with me.

And the price i paid was a grand opening special .. ( yikes cringe now) .. i paid $1200 ALL in for everything.

are you being serious or facetious?

Do you have glasses/contacts?

Do you google car accident or motorcycle crash statistics and percentages before you use either vehicle daily?

There are odds associated with everything you do, every little menial task carries some inherent risk... The failure/risk of laser eye surgery going horrendously bad is miniscule and well worth the risk to many people who simply have had enough of the mainly downfalls and negatives to living with corrective lenses.

Totally serious. I have worn glasses since a little kid.

Sure there's risks to everything. The trick is to weigh risks vs. benefits. So here the risk is a small percentage of patients have problems with their eyes [!!].

As compared with, .....now what are the benefits again?

Freedom from wearing glasses? errr is that anything like freedom from wearing underwear?
Better vision? Generally not as good as corrected vision.
Better looking guy? Nope. You'll get as many chicks before/after. If you shaved your freakin' beard off after 20 years, nobody would notice.

I don't get it at all.

I did it due to my work. I needed it or i wouldnt of been hired.

Plus i hate wearing glasses. ( sorry to those that do enjoy it)

You guys are lucky, I wanted to do it but they said my pupils are too large and the risk of halos is much greater... I have only -1.5 on both eyes, just enough to not see well without glasses....I hate my glasses so much.... :(

.

1) Contacts couldn't correct my vision completely (for some reason I couldn't use astigmatism correction lenses).
2) i found glasses in a snowmobile helmet to be almost a non-starter (constant frost). Sticking my finger in my eyes after a long day of riding/wrenching was just asking to get crap in my eyes.
3) before I almost never wore sunglasses as prescription sunglasses were horrendously expensive and contacts left the world a little off. Now I wear them all the time. What are the risks associated with years of sun exposure to your eyes (I don't know, but they can't be negligible)
4)it saves me time. 5 minutes a day for contacts, yearly visits to the eye doctor
5) for impact water sports (waterskiing/wakeboard/windsurfing) glasses and contacts both have problems (glasses come off all time, contacts come out often enough to be annoying and expensive). Going blind is also an option, but I prefer to see where I'm going

I read every clinical study available before I had it done, I knew what could go wrong and how often. For me it was easy. For me, Riding a motorcycle is a much worse risk/reward ratio than this.

I had the prk done because my corneas weren't smooth. I was a little nervous as the healing of it takes longer. It took 3 months for me to see clearly in both eyes but now I'm 20/15 from -7 and -8. Totally worth it! I went to the Toronto LASIK centre (TLC) and they were amazing there. It's a lifetime warranty providing you go to the mandatory post op appointments and get an eye check up once a year. Cost me 5000.

I am so glad I did it, I was absolutely terrified but made it through. I had worn glasses since grade 3. Now it saves me 10 mins putting contacts in or out whenever I was doing an activity that I couldn't do with glasses and I can wear makeup now without it bugging my eyes as well as throwing sun glasses on whenever I want and not having to spend 10 mins cleaning my glasses a day.

I would definitely recommend the prk surgery over the LASIK, risks are less and you won't have to worry about the flap dislodging at all. Oh and I do have dry eyes in the mornings sometimes but I just put a few drops in and I'm good to go!
