Land Rover split in half -- how did the driver manage to scathe free ?

My question is, how do u split an SUV in half??
Even if I try, I don't think I could repeat what he did. That kids got talent

Well ...its english made and dont exactly look like its in half to me, looks like the side was torn off?????

It wasn't 'cut in half.' That was media, trying to make it more spectacular than it was. If they had reported it as it really was, it wouldn't have minimized the event one bit.

The driver walked away, because the impact was on the passenger's side. That's why the passenger is dead.

The driver will likely not get more than two years, despite the severity of the crime involved. He was charged with multiple offences, because multiple offences applied. Odds are it will be brought down to just one, impaired operation causing death, at trial.

Totally agree and this one makes me especially sick. His parents bought their way into the country which lead to him obtain a canadian citizenship (how freaking unfair is that for all the hard trying immigrants who get here without thousands of dollars in their accounts), paid for his school and perks yet keeping living where they were born and let his 19 year old to be spending their money on his own.

.

How do you know they bought their citizenship?

You'd have to know who the parents are. Not exactly a landed immigrant type waiting for visa in the line and then living in Canada for +3 years waiting for the right to apply for citizenship. What they are doing is pretty popular (unfortunately; canadian government basically says show me the money and here's your visa) for people wealthy enough to afford doing that.

I know plenty of people who have done it. The answer always is that they are doing it for their kids, so they can get better education, or they are just switching venues for different reasons .... the bottom line is that they have a significant dough to do that. They buy house and car shortly after their arrivals and no they don't need a bank to do that either ....

I don't like it (because I don't think Canada needs people like that or their money), but I don't care .... that is as long as they don't drink, drive and kill people.

why can't canada accept money from people so they get a faster process? those who pay, are at least contributing something to canada. those who don't pay, on the waiting list. what have they done for canada at this point? other than leeching off the health care system probably once they come.

sounds like in your mind, "paid for" immigrants who commit crimes get extra stigma than others? you wont be as angry if a born canadian drinks and drives? lol

also seems like you are "anti rich", "pro poor", so were you happy when boats of tamil came ashore and getting free goods and services handed to them, courtesy of canadian tax payers.

There is little problem with this, as long as other immigration criteria doesn't get tossed out the window because of financial 'considerations.'

quite sure canada knows what they are doing, and wont let peeps like al-qaeda in just cuz they paid up. lol

The whole thing is a mess anyway considering the govt doesn't even know what its doing with the money, it essentially sits in a bank acct for x years and gets returned, when its supposed to be a source of investement. its a joke.

lots of interest the government gets to keep

I don't know what world you are living in but the words "lots" and "interest" haven't been put in the same sentence for 4 years.

and even if interest rates were high, its still a stupid, non-use of the money.

Thank you sir for stating the obvious.

I am not going to paint everyone with the same brush, but you are telling me honestly that you as Canadian citizen do not get extra irked when you read story like this one?

Nothing to do with boats arriving to Canada's shore ....

Actually, I have never said anything about "faster process". The process is NOT actually faster, they have to still wait and sometimes pretty long as well (I've known people with cash in their hands waiting for +2 years ...). But that is their only chance to get in at all .... to pay. There's no other way for them to get in.

BTW, yes I have more sympathy for poor in general rather than rich, especially the ones who drive and kill. What is the likelihood that a poor immigrant will drive SUV intoxicated and happen to kill someone? ......

Seems to me the folks on welfare don't have a problem buying their booze and smokes every week, so I'm gonba say quite high.

This sounds a lot like jealousy... what does where his parents live, and how he got into the country have anything to do with this case? I heard a rule about a Canadian foreign investment and immigration policy that states if a foreign family were to invest a minimum of $400,000 into the Canadian economy (which includes buying real estate), then the Canadian Government will grant an expedited Visa to a member of the family. For all YOU know this kids parents are honest, successful entrepreneurs, and just wanted to take advantage of the Canaidan system by getting their kid to come here get educated and setup for a bright future... Its a policy that has definitely done more good than bad.

As it turns out, the kid's a spoiled POS who got drunk and killed his buddy in a car accident. Yes, he deserves to get completely screwed for his actions, but remember that good money buys good lawyers, so no matter how it turns out; he'll get what he deserves.

I am not sure how obvious it is because a lot of people don't know how the program works. - there are also provincial programs vs federal ones.

That being said the skilled workers immigration criteria are just as if not more ****ed up.

Either way, the guy is a brat and not deserving of sympathy. The parents I don't know but it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest their parenting skills are probably questionable.
