Land Rover split in half -- how did the driver manage to scathe free ?

True, the conviction rate for impaird driving is suprisingly low due to numerous factors which i wont get into.
Plus if this kid does not have any previous convictions the sentance will be superlenient, Canada has a very second chance policy, or i should say 5th chance for most criminals.

If theres no witnesses to his driving the dangerous driving charge would be a battle despite the forensic evidence present.

I suspect the kid will get a lenient sentance, he may do a short jail sentance just because of the media hype over the case.

Your right and its sad... i told my ex brother in law he should have done "life" for killing a incocent persone ...if your stupid enough to jump in a car DRUNK, then Your stupid enought to spend your life in jail and rot....

I wish we had you as the judge, Im going to be interested to see what he gets in a years time or so.

My question is, how do u split an SUV in half??
Even if I try, I don't think I could repeat what he did. That kids got talent

If I were to bet money. The accused will do no more than 8 months of community service, no jail term.

And

Most likely, the accused will live a normal life after his 'incarceration'. Like nothing happened.

Agreed.

It didn't even cost much to get out!

Karafa was released on $20,000 bail, with both parents and sister Edita Karafova, 22, acting as sureties.

Lock him up and let the boys on the inside have their fun.

Why should I feel bad if he gets his in jail? There is NO excuse for this. Sure, his buddy might have been in the car having a good time, but maybe his buddy just wanted a ride home after a night out.

I had a co-worker get busted during the holidays for driving drunk. I think he expected me to feel bad for him when he needed a ride everywhere, but I told him what I thought of the act.

It's sad to know he will most likely get out with no issue due to his daddy's money.

Just heard about this terrible accident a few hours ago. The guy that died is a friend of my buddy's gf.

RIP passenger, I bet this was at that really goofy bend in MT Pleasant just north of Sherwood. I mean there were times I almost rubbed the curb in my own vehicle going around in the curb lane, but doing this kids' speed probly had the vehicle airborne, according to resident out there, the passenger died when vehicle split in half and he struck pole with his head. To those who say hes gonna have it bad in jail, think again. Our jails are more like all inclusive resorts, and inmates usually reserve that kind of "special treatment" for rapists and diddlers. This kid will start trouble just to spend his time in PC rather than stick it out in GenPop. Don't go thinking this kid is gonna feel any guilt over this. I find that this generation is lacking so much in responsibility and remorse I'm surprised he didn't update his Facebook status from the accident scene. His lawyer will find some way to blame range rover for accident. Nobody's responsible for their own actions, that sounds too much like common sense for our city. Stay safe evry1 :) one luv

Ps, as to how driver escaped unharmed, god musth have a special place in his heart for the not so smart people of this world, and the heartless

Even if that is the case - look at the whole picture. This guys life is SCREWED.

There is a stain that will be on his life forever.

Unless there are criminal charge the traffic violations disappear in a few years. Licence and insurance drop to normal. People forget names. Even with criminal charges there are limitations to the effects. Crossing the border might be a nuisance.

Totally agree and this one makes me especially sick. His parents bought their way into the country which lead to him obtain a canadian citizenship (how freaking unfair is that for all the hard trying immigrants who get here without thousands of dollars in their accounts), paid for his school and perks yet keeping living where they were born and let his 19 year old to be spending their money on his own.

All you need to know is to study the picture for a few minutes and you know that there's many things ****ed up with this "family" and their status. This is one of the days when it's time to cheer for the prosecution team. Go get them I say.

Oliver Karafa, who faces charges in Tuesday's fatal crash on Mount Pleasant Ave., leaves College Park Court with his family, including father Vojtech Karafa, left, and sister Edith Karafova, after he was released on bail on Thursday.

agreed as well.

people seem to have almost forgotten about this case: http://www.citytv.com/toronto/cityn...-avoid-jail-in-crash-that-killed-local-cabbie

i know alcohol wasn't involved in that one, but neither of those two saw any jail time.

our laws are ridiculously lenient, the courts of "justice" laughable.

well, if someone paid you cash to take your spot in line waiting for something, i bet you'd take the money. canadian government is no different.
