[h=1]Lance Armstrong Doping: Anti-Doping Agency Says 11 Teammates Testified Against Him In Probe[/h]

Lance Armstrong said he wanted to see the names of his accusers. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency gave him 26, including 11 former teammates.
The world's most famous cyclist said he wanted to see the hard evidence that he was a doper. The agency gave him that, too: About 200 pages filled with vivid details – from the hotel rooms riders transformed into makeshift blood-transfusion centers to the way Armstrong's former wife rolled cortisone pills into foil and handed them out to all the cyclists.
In all, a USADA report released Wednesday gives the most detailed, unflinching portrayal yet of Armstrong as a man who, day after day, week after week, year after year, spared no expense – financially, emotionally or physically – to win the seven Tour de France titles that the anti-doping agency has ordered taken away.
It presents as matter-of-fact reality that winning and doping went hand-in-hand in cycling and that Armstrong was the focal point of a big operation, running teams that were the best at getting it done without getting caught. Armstrong won the Tour as leader of the U.S. Postal Service team from 1999-2004 and again in 2005 with the Discovery Channel as the primary sponsor.

I say meh.

He doped at a time when everyone else doped, he was simply the best at not getting caught.

The fact that he won all those Tours is still a great accomplishment, his competitors were just as dirty as he was.

Blah blah blah.

This isn't news to anyone that follows cycling.

If you haven't at least SUSPECTED that this was happening before this "scandal" got out you have been living under a rock. Also, while cycling WAS (is?) one of the dirtiest sports you'd have to be one naive person to think this isn't happening in other sports to some degree.

Agreed 100%

My only beef with this whole sham is that most ignorant readers will from now on think of Lance as a dirty cheater and that he never deserved any of those wins.

I was getting annoyed when they were discussing this on the Dean Blundell show yesterday. People who dont know anything about cycling are now experts.

Based on all accounts, Armstrong would have gotten away with it had he not been a prick to his teammates. They were the ones that ultimately threw him under the bus.

As for him getting caught or doping, as previously mentioned, meh.

As much as I love the Dean Blundell show a lot of the callers are complete morons........

It actually stems from a personal disagreement between Lance and a few people at the USADA.

I'm really curious what the backstory is to all of this. Lance must have seriously ****** some people off for the USADA to go through all of this

I stand corrected.

You're partially correct. Some of his team mates didn't like him but the whole thing goes back to him and the USADA.

There are some good audio clips out there of some less than pleasant exchanges between them.

I'm not really sure what you mean since I didn't hear the thing on the radio but I'm guessing it's the typical people who don't understand anything about doping and think you take a pill and become superman. Take away all the doping from all athletes and he'd probably still win, though maybe not as consistently. Sports now adays is unfortunately 50% genetics, 35% hard work and 15% drugs.

Edit out WAS, the quotation+question marks, one of, and the S at the end of sports.

I had a chat with Greg Lemond a couple of years ago, and we talked about a number of things related to cycling. Most of his answers to my doping questions were vague and generalizations (he was embroiled in a lawsuit with Jim Ochowicz at the time) but the one that stuck out is that he said it's safe to assume that every single team has a doping program for their riders, and has since the early 80s.

I don't really care whether he is still a hero or not. All I know is that I now have won as many Tour De France as Lance Armstrong. Yeah me!

I though it all stemmed from the federal investigation for fraud (since the team was sponsored by the us government), in which several of armstrong's teammates where subpenaed to give testimony under oath to the federal grand jury. It's one thing to lie to the doping court, but lying to federal investigators can get you into much bigger trouble. In the end, the feds dropped the case, but turned their file over to the USADA.

BTW the 200 pages relased by USADA last week was just the summary.

Sports so dirty, not like he was the only one doing it. The fact that he won it 7 times is still impressive.

Come on, that's bs. If he doped to get any of his wins (which at this point there is no doubt anymore) he didn't deserve any of them. People will say, oh but he trained so hard, etc, blah blah. Well if you understand anything about PEDs used by cyclists you'll know that it's much easier to 'train hard' when you are juiced.

Someone mentioned that everyone cheated so it's ok. No, it is not. There are numerous cyclists who chose not to dope and because of that were deprived a good pro cycling career. Also, not everyone reacts the same to PEDs, so the order will not necessarily be the same when they are all clean. Bottom line, he broke the rules and rightfully was punished.

There are a couple of things that bug me about the whole thing.
1. The titles will now roll down to another cheater
2. The half *** apologies off all the teammates that testified against him. They all pretty much said: "we stopped using in 2006". Anyone with half a brain knows that this really means: "since 2006 i'm using a doping protocol you can't yet detect".

I don't think this will change much, although I hope I'm wrong.

What about all the money everyone made?
Nike et all knew what he was doing. Nike is into sports and it's their business literally to know athletes and athletics.
It is reported that those bracelets alone pulled in $500 million alone.

I disagree with those hinting that it was okay since everyone did it.
What does it say to the kids starting out?
Lance claims he had cancer...hmm as a result from the drugs he injected?

They were all in on it. Lance brought fame and fortune to cycling.

Agreed on both counts. The fact that the chump in charge of the USADA is ignoring their own regulations in the commission of this witch hunt just makes it more hilarious.

I knew kids (14-17) that were pressured to start using HGH and other PEDs to get an advantage on their competition to get full rides to US Colleges for sports. There's a sick reality that everyone knows about but no one comments on.
