Who do you think got modern work standards brought to where they are today..?
I 100% believe unions (or some other similar organization) were necessary in the past as workers were abused and had no way to fix things. I believe almost as strongly that they have swung well past that role and now make things worse as now employers are abused with no way to fix things.

I still maintain that unions could be viable and useful, but they need to fundamentally change operation and become a pool of the most skilled and qualified members. That way you know you are paying a premium but getting the best. As it is, the vast majority are a cesspool that protects every member to the death as every member means more money for the union. The union gives a crap whether half their membership are drunks that can barely accomplish the role required as long as they are getting their cut.

I've been a member of a large public service union for almost 30 years...
It's corrupt, but... in many cases it's been the only bulwark against some awful stuff...
I agree that most unions are just big businesses themselves. Actually they're more like pimps, however...
Thinking that the government can be trusted to ensures fair, safe and moral employment practices is as foolish as it is reckless.

Might be a good idea to specify what kinds of work you are looking for?
Construction, IT, retail, Mechanical etc

I've never been in a union
but have been part of the leadership group at several companies that are organized
there are some undeniable advantages for the workers

some advantages for the company/organization too
the CBA lays out every single thing about how you deal with staff
levels the playing field and takes the guess work out of things

the key is to understand and accept the CBA for what it is: an agreement
taking the attitude that it's forced on you leads to nothing but trouble

^^^This guy gets it.
Management needs to know the CBA as well or better than the union members...
The trouble management has in my organization is that they dont have a clue.
They get all pissy when members file grievances and even more pissy when they lose said grievances...
Lol

Many Costco locations are looking for part-time to help out with the increase business.........

Seriously they are. Is it worth it? Droves of people and retail during an outbreak and calls for social distancing. Your call but, if really interested and you have one conveniently located near you, give them a call.

My wife if home unemployed as she works with clients that are in respite or retirement homes. She told me Costco is hiring and I told her to stay home.
