Kids these days... [Rant]

Kids these days can't even do a simple job right... Cmon, what kind of skills could you possibly need to be a PAPERBOY? We used to work hard for our money and the newspaper used to be at our doorstep, now these kids are getting paid to get their parents to drive their paper route in their car while they toss papers on to our driveway?
Sure, w/e, parents are helping their kids earn money. But seriously, if their itty bitty arms can't throw the damn newspaper ON to the damn driveway, they shouldn't be working that job.

My paper didn't even make it to my driveway as well as my neighbor to my right...

PS. We already told them to stop delivering the damn newspaper to our house like a year ago...

Good work ethics MIA.

People still read newspapers?

Exactly. We called in telling them to stop delivering it to our house over a year ago - it worked for like a month and it resumed. Called again, same outcome. Gave up after that.

Now, wouldn't that suck if the paper was covered in snow and got jammed in a snow blower...?

I blame the parents for spoiling their kids.... One of my neighbors kids deliver the free city newspaper.... But if the weather isn't ideal.... The dad has to do it.... Not the best way to teach responsibility

"I'm working and making my own money! I get to spend it on whatever I want!"

At the end of the day, the kid usually ends up with the paycheque regardless if they did the work or not.

ever tried calling the company that does it and saying '' Hello, just to let you know that this conversation is being taped for my records. Anyway, i'm calling regarding the blah blah blah" then in the end tell them that if they do it again and litter in your property you'll do xxx.

I'll do what exactly?

Yup. Where i live now we have a competent kid delivering the flyers and they're on the front step. Where I used to live they could be anywhere.. snowblower land mines.

Along that same line, why is it that almost all kids are dropped/picked up from school these days?

When I was a kid the only ones dropped or picked up were kids coming late or leaving early. Otherwise the buses where full, kids walked, and in the warmer months the fence had about 200 bicycles locked to it.

I live across the street from an elementary school, and the line up of cars to drop/pick up kids everyday is unbelievable. Make your damn kids do something for themselves. Baby them all their lives and soon they will be grown babies.

The streets around my old HIGH SCHOOL (near my house) are packed with cars picking up their kids to the point where its *almost* a standstill (more like a 5km/h crawl) to other traffic passing by as many people park at the stop signs and some of them park inside the intersection.

As a kid, I've always walked to school regardless if it rained or snowed. Then I realized, pretty much everyone that got driven to school would think a 15 min walk is the end of the world lol.

These kids are our future. There is very little hope to go on.

I was coming out of the go station... I see this kid open the of his Moms car... And the first thing he yells in front of his friends.... "Where the HELL have you been?"

If my mom drove all the way to the go station in this weather... the least i could is show some gratitude...

Oh man, I see this all the time. Kids ***** and complain when people do them a favor of picking them up even if they're a min late.

Pisses me off even more when you pick someone up and all they can do is ***** about lateness and leave w/o at least a thanks. Needless to say, I don't associate with those people often anymore.

I guess thats why the kids near where I live (both near high schools) get their own car for their 16/17th b-day...............................

In my school days that never would have happened. Kids would have been getting the **** kicked out of them from parents then. Today's generation is a disaster and that's what our future looks like. Awesome isn't it? Entitled idiots everywhere...

This one bugs me as well. The local high school has 2 lanes north and south, it becomes 1 lane both ways with the number of parents picking up their kids. Staggering.

I had the same problem with newspaper. They follow up on the issue. I'm still following up with the issue. Lets see tomorrow

The looks I get from people (including my own family) when I tell them my kids have chores to do everyday. I employed both in my household at around 5, and they each get paid their age, with half going into forced savings and the other half whatever the hell they want. My 11 year old son takes the bus to his boxing club three times a week. As well as walks 15mins two blocks to and from school, and I leave work the same time school gets out and I could pick him up easily. The only time I picked him up was when it was -20.

If they delivered papers, THEY would, not me. If they wanted help because it was raining, then they would pay a fair rate for my time and resources. I tell everyone that I am raising productive members of society, not kids.
