My next step is going to be 911 if the Restoralax in prune juice doesn't work for her. What does everybody use?

Avoid anything with psyllium/metamucil as it "gels" and will actually make it worse, just a warning as you are looking for next solutions. I am a big fan of the stuff but there are cases not to use it....

Hose on the hot water bottle usually gets it all done but many just can't get their head around it.

I went to check what the doctors prescribed me for my return home. Apparently pain killers stop the bowel movement effectively.

I was prescribed RESTORALAX which is the same as you're considering. 17g/cup of water. But things started moving when I foolishly ate a deep fried donut that the MIL made yesterday....ran right through me and opened things up again.

EDIT: My wife drinks lemons in warm water to get things moving. Just talked to her about it and she said it helps her out. There's a lot of different 'wive's tales' methods so I can ask more if you'd like.

If & when (not to be taken lightly), all else fails: 2 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp baking soda and warm water in a cup. Mix well.

(from the old uke "medicine book")

Citro-Mag and Ducolax (aka Volcanus 2000) for scopes. IIRC you need the note for the Ducolax part of the equation.

We used restoralax for the kids. It takes a while (a day or more). What dosing are you using? Label dose is 17 g/day but IIRC you can go up to something like 1 g/kg/day. Consult a medical professional (doc or pharmacist) if you want to up the dose a bunch to make sure that is a safe approach. For the kids we would adjust based on how things were working. If we got behind, we would use a dose that fixed the problem within 24 hours (but would get them kicked out of school for loose stool).

Senokot if we needed a faster result (hours).

Suppository if they were really in a bad state (less than one hour).

I mean that's the goal here from what I understand...plugged piping is the issue...

A plugged pipe is VERY dangerous. My hospital neighbour got brought in for that. Young guy at 44....they took out a fist size poop that got lodged in his intestines. Poor bastard.

Yep. Digital disimpaction. I don't recommend it to anyone, but it's used as a last resort.

You can get Dulcolax OTC. Not necessarily recommending it in this situation, just saying

I thought we had the problem fixed two weeks ago. But it's a problem again. Senokot and full dose of Restoralax resulted in two sleepless nights and four loads of laundry. She uses a portable commode and it's not a simple activity.

Try to talk to a real medical professional. I suspect you can go up on restoralax dose (by a lot).

I am getting some mixed messages here.... is she trying to get a full stoppage going or trying to get more regular. I assume going to much is not the problem otherwise you are trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

Restoralax and prune juice get things moving. I assume the issue is blockage.

If you get a hard plug you get occasional squirts of juice that get around the plug. That stuff is like liquid fire. I suspect that's what he's dealing with.
