Kawasaki ninja 650r sports bars ?

Hi y'all,
So i have a Kawi ninja 650r with stock bars and i've been researching the option of changing to sports bars instead.
I've read that there may be slight issues with the free play when turning between the levers and the windshield or the bars and tank for sharp turn.
Has anyone personally moded' their touring to sports handles? (not just specific to this model) ,im sure its a preference thing, but i would imagine if there was a huge issue of safety or not allowing enough free play to ride comfortably then this option would not be available.
Would appreciate your thoughts , thanks.

I know a guy with sport bars on his 650r. I have no idea the make but we had to remove a chunk of his windscreen to allow for aftermarket levers. He bought the bike with the sport bars mounted, I am sure we would have been just as happy with the stock bars and no clearance issues.

what year is your 650? I believe 2009 and prior have sportbars that fit.

If it's the new model (2012 and +) the way the fairing is positioned restricts sportbar movements (there's an extra "chunk" that is blocking the movement.)

my friends is a 2009 amd still has fitment issues

I've been looking into sport bars as well (2012 650) the website that sells them says they will fit but you have to "flip" the banjo bolt to avoid hitting ur instrument cluster.

Been researching how difficult of a task it is to do that.. I believe it involves having to bleed ur brakes. Looking to order mine soon ..

one of the best sports bar I believe is 'Real Sports' by the ACC, I'm sure they will allow you to park a 650 around there somewhere

My first reaction was; wow, that's a pretty narrow demographic for a sports bar to cater to! Never mind, carry on.

I had an 09 Ninja 650 and purchased the sport bars and loved them and if you install them properly there is no problem. The fit was very tight though one part of the bar is less than 8 cm from the tank at full lock but no issues with turning or control. I believe the 06-08 also has no issues but I don't know about the 12+ model.

I have the Sports Bars from the ninja650 shop. They have bars for all the model years now. I think they are great. Best way to describe them is that the reach is now halfway between a touring position and full super sport. Still comfortable while providing better feedback and handling. If you have the stock levers the only thing you have to do is flip the banjo bolt around so it doesnt touch the dash in full lock. I also have Pazzo levers which do touch the windscreen in full lock. But the brake doesnt engage so no issues.

I highly recommend them and if you have the stock levers you shouldn't have any issues.

the sports bars are okay with stock levers, if you do it proper you dont need flip the banjo on 2009+ models.

side note: i have an almost new hindle slip on exhaust, used not even a month. msg me if interested paid $320 sell for $200

i just put then on my 2009 yesterday, it fits perfect. i am happy to help out anyone. i did mot have flip the banjo, there is a little clip that compreses yhe cable underneath you just have to clip that

I have the sport bars on my table right now! Just waiting to find some time to install them. Mine are from ninja650shop as well.

I have heard really good things about the Renthal "street" bars as something in the middle of stock and sport bars.

Thanks, though i wonder about the "..felt just as good." for $22 bucks? i typically live with the motto 'you get what you pay for' , appreciate the feedback though.
It's $22 because all it is, is a pipe, with bends in it. Sport bars are a much more complex piece to manufacture.

Its a 2008
