Just Came Back From A 6-Week Vacation 4,000 km South

Yeah I just recently got into motorcycling, no way I am giving that up now.

I've always found food like that in Latin countries much better then it looks, and everything is fresh unlike here where it sits in a freezer for months and still isn't ripe when you buy it.

But sounds awesome, shuda made a separate post of your journey.

The food is mostly amazing. The local street food, pupusas (yes, the locals know the name is hilarious) which are tortilla dough with a filling of your choice and then all cooked together are pretty dope. Can’t bring myself to try the rotten looking bananas, though I’m sure they are fine. Fresh fruit and veggies at most local corner stores (tiendas). Bought some oranges at the local big name supermarket the other day that ended up being from the US and terrible. Also $4.50USD for a small box of strawberries from the same store… Inflation is kicking the locals’ ass, gas is at around $4.20USD a gallon.

Not a bad idea to make a post, may actually force me to start taking more pics.

It's doable, just quit your job, abandon your normal life, and leave everything behind. Easy peasy.

Trying to channel my inner @Lightcycle, minus the financial stability and motorcycle

Bananas are pretty scary, especially the local ones that are super bruised to the point of being black. Risk I'm willing to take though

No bike on this trip unfortunately. I'm chicken bus'in it, trying to take as much local transit as possible

Nice! My wife and I enjoyed Latin America. Spent a year and half all over Central and South America.

Nice place to visit: Great food, friendly people, wonderful climate.

I refer to your site constantly as I move around.

El Salvador is safe right???

El Salvador has always had a very dark side but the violence is mainly kept away from any tourism. It’s a beautiful country, I’ve been a couple of times, and always been treated well but I’ve also had to go to some places with a police escort or had to sign a waiver from the hotel to wander off premises.

Good thing I'm in Nicaragua now, known as the benchmark of safe and peaceful countries.

Really curious to know what neighbourhood in San Salvador the murders happened as that's the only place mentioned that I'm familiar with.

Just for some perspective, St Louis is in the top ten cities in homicides per capita.

This is pretty funny

"Meanwhile, shitcoiner gringos are still super dundos but giving their opinions with the confidence that comes from believing that the world revolves around them and that by understanding one (1) complex thing, they understand everything."

What’s happening there with Ortega? Looks like things are going back to a dark time with tin-pot dictators!

Seems to be a powderkeg just waiting to blow. Spoke with a few students here that are scared to speak their mind and are massively angry.

Not looking good for El Salvador unfortunately

Why would a country hedge their future on crypto….or am I missing something major.

Article seems like a spin on reality. It seems they bought $25M of bitcoin that is now worth 16. That hurts buts their looming dept payment is $800M. Seems like they bought some crypto as a hail Mary and it was an incomplete pass.
