Jesus christ Nissan GT-R's are fast!!

I don't find it spectacular that spending 200 grand or more on a gtr and modifying it that much gets you an 8 second car. Is it impressive fast? Yes. Can that be done to just about any car for that kind of money? Yes.

Focusing on the acceleration or flat out speed is oversimplifying it since it isn't the most important aspect of the car. The thing is a cornering monster that sounds great and has a calm, quiet, relaxing interior with aircon, a navi, and a sound system. Basically the guy driving it could be smoking a cigar and getting road head while traveling 300+ km/h in a snowstorm. The acceleration is a bonus... it's not everyday that a 100k car does 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and a stock quarter mile in the 10s.

The gearbox crapping out while doing launches is an AWD problem, not necessarily a GTR problem. I think everything from a 20yr old 3000GT to an Aventador will wreck the gearbox/diffs/transfer case eventually if you get too happy with the launch control.

I watched a GTR at Cayuga launch none stop (15 plus runs) no problems at all. Mildly modded, couldn't crack under 11sec quarters...(11.3's-11.2's).

I appreciate the car from a technical standpoint but for some reason it just doesn't turn my crank.

Well said

Youtube video of a Nissan GT-R Switzer P800 going against a Hayabusa. Unfortunately the Busa is limited to 300 km/h. According to the 1/4 mile times, both vehicles are neck and neck against the plain jane GT-R, but I don't believe that.

That's a highly modified GTR pushing over 800 hp going against a stock Busa and you need at least 750 hp to beat a stock Busa.

I've raced a McClaren SLR 722S from a standstill and he was, to say the least, SHOCKED when I passed him going into 2nd gear with my Busa. He goes on to tell me when he catches me at a set of lights we stopped at that he usually beats bikes. I told him that he's beating on my little brothers. Haha He then tries to outrun me on the highway. LOL Ain't happening!

look up the specs on the 750 not the 600s! lol

2003 R1 152HP 70TQ 412LBS DRY 430 WET

2005 gsxr 750 148HP 58TQ 370LBS DRY ??? WET

2 years, actually 1 cause the 04/05 was the same bike for the gsxr and they're already kicking your r1's butt :D

Your comparing R1 Dyno numbers to 750 crank numbers btw.

thats what i was thinking! must be a gixxer boy! lol

I think he rides a 1000RR, CBR or BMW =P

But yeah those numbers are kinda off. Max I've seen on a 750 is around 120.

so 3830 lb car, makes 545 hp stock (assuming that's at the crank) Motor trend made it do 11.6 s at 120.0 mph (193.1 km/h) and everyone thinks that's fast? I don't understand the fascination with these cars.

2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 0-60 mph 3.3 Quarter Mile 11.4

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo GT2 RS 0-60 mph 3.4 Quarter Mile 11.1

That's two porsches that are just as fast. I mean even the new carerra 4s does 11.8. Why is a nissan a big deal?

Because of the price. I don't know how much those two Porsches you listed cost off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure they cost significantly more than the GTR, used or not. And I believe, but might be wrong because I stopped following cars after I got into riding, that then GTR beat a large number of supercars at Nurburgring that cost significantly more than itself stock.

Also, from reviews, it's considered a technical master piece due to how they pretty much merged Gran Turismo (video game) into the car with all driver aids included.

For me, it would be the perfect grocery car!

The car is an engineering marvel on many levels. Modded cars are pushing the boundaries of engineering

382 km/h in one mile from a V6 and 2 turbos. Incredible.

Just saw this thread. 2 costumers of mine have a GTR. All I have to say is launch mode is unFREAKINGbelievible. Car launches harder then any stock supercar I've been in. Crazy stuff. I want one.

This is my signature

I wasn't talking modded. Anyone can mod any car and in that case you could hand a gtr its ***. I've seen a ford gt do the standing faster than that. There's a 997 that evolution owned that went 234 mph too. Big deal. Look at the guy that twin turbo's lambos. Stock car vs stock car.... yes impressive it's a 6 but it's not mind bending. Maybe if the car didn't look like a done up g coupe it might be more appealing.

They've built two and both have just a 6 in them. Again, money can make any car fast.

Porsche is king. The Nissan is a paddle shifting pussy car same goes with the new Ferrari's these days. Pathetic. Wheres the real cars?
