It's FILTERING, NOT lane splitting!

My question is how the motorcycle didn't out-accelerate the truck. If you do a move like this you ensure that you get the heck out of the way, haha.

I love when taxis try to out accelerate me when I'm riding in the right lane on Bloor. 0.5 cm of throttle = taxi way back in my mirrors.

not everyone is comfortable with fast starts as they dont know where the friction point is.

... and, far too frequently, the other driver takes the attempt to get around him as a personal slight, and makes a concerted effort to out accelerate the motorcycle.

Hehe, well in that case, people who don't know where the friction point is shouldn't be filtering.

Most drivers don't care or mind at all. I'd guess one out of 10 get slighted, haha.

I'm guessing that neither of you drive in Brampton.
but when you come to think of it
those drivers should be used to mopeds, therefore used to motorcycles going everywhere! with like 4 people on them ahah

(Shhhhhhhhhhhh)

Write to your MPP. Petition Parliament but do it on actual paper, because they don't accept e-petitions. Sign up to the Ontario lane splitting Facebook group, then email the address of it to your MPP, the Premier, and the Minister of Transport. Get thousands of people to also do these things.

Okay, I'm gonna get to that right now.

I don't ever do anything that might be perceived as a bad thing to drivers in the suburbs; every rage incident I've witnessed has been there.

I only head through the burbs on my way out to the country, anyway.

The friction point is very different when you're trying to launch quickly...just sayin

If you don't do it, you'll never get it. That's how it's done.

Also, if you aren't willing to do it, yourself, don't lambaste others for following your example, rather than your words.

I'm starting to warm up to Rob

Let down would be a better way to put it. I'll advise, but will no longer take part.

Hopefully I can share a better outcome. My gf's sister's tutor is actually on some political stuff in Markham...I don't know the details but I'll make a new thread when I get a small group in Markham to, hopefully, push for what the Governator has done.

I wrote to Wheels @ TheStar last night, and got a reply today from Norris McDonald (Wheels Editor) that Eric Lai (Consumer Issues) will be looking into motorcycles and filtering in a future article.

Ok,, after taking numerous "coaching the truck driver", and defensive driving courses mandatory for my job,, yearly visits to do something with my drivers lic... I have always listened closely to filtering, lanesplitting. so,, my question is.. at a 4 way intersection,, allway stop.. clearly painted as 1 lane each way.. you clearly see people squeeze by the person at the stop waiting to make a left turn. so.. in my mind, this is ONE lane, the vehicle at the line making the left "owns" the lane,,, so if a vehicle passes by between the curb and the car,, it seems that NO ONE gets bent out of shape when this is done... altho.. a lot of folks in line behind will horn a driver and insist they squeeze past that left turner... isn't this filtering,, or splitting? I want to sign the petition to allow filtering, splitting,, something like California

This is specifically allowed for, in the HTA. There have been several posts in this thread that include the applicable section already, so I won't repeat it.
