I kinda like it. Too much luggage, but the rest of the upgrades are good.

*EDIT*

it's on BaT.

I never imagined a winch on a bike but damn it makes sense if you’re out there hardcore. I like it.

For some reason, the moment i saw the winch in that pic i immediately thought of the AUS spec LandCruiser 70 series. Love those trucks.

Makes sense to me. I like it on that bike.

If you're taking that beast anywhere gnarly enough that you might need a winch, you need a smaller bike... dirtbike or a dual-sport...

Might as well add two more wheels and ride an atv.

I dragged a nighthawk on street tires out of the mud on its side on more than one occasion. A winch on a bike is probably very hard to use in practice. Wheels in a rut and pressure on the winch line and it is almost impossible to keep it up.

This. Mounting it up high is stupid. Tie it to a tree and cue the " Benny Hill" music.

Never heard of KonTour seats before. Concept seems interesting, but their customer service doesn't sound much better than Corbin (i.e. bad)

Exactly this. I had a winch on my 4x4 but this is just stupid.

Edit: A small come along or block and tackle set in a mesh bag in one of the panniers would make way more sense - just wouldn't look as ADV

Its a Honda, the winch is there so you can pull out all your friends in lesser bikes..

Love love love the gold rims by the way.

If they put pulleys on the ends of the axle to allow you to get a low pull, it could be useful (to pull out you or your friends). A lighter bike is still a better solution if you find yourself stuck often.

Yeah, depending on how stuck the other bike is and how much traction is available for the tow vehicle, I can easily see this winch pulling the tow bike straight towards whatever trouble that it's trying to get the other bike out of.

Too much traction and the tow vehicle is going to endo. Why would you not just use a tow rope attached to the back of the bike and use the engine instead to tow out instead of a winch?

Haha. If the winch is out of the mud, you need to tie the winch bike back to a tree. Without a crawler gear, pulling a bike out of the mud with the engine seems hard (I've never tried it). You will either burn up the clutch or spin like crazy.

As for the endo, that's why you need pulleys down low. Even if you are doing a self rescue, the winch line up that high would be miserable. Line needs to be as low as possible to help lift as it pulls instead of burying the front deeper.

This is the proper way to use a winch on a motorcycle. Skip to 7:22 for the action:

The proper way being to use the winch *off* the bike. Much better because the tow line is secured to something immovable so no worries about traction, weight or balance.
I was thinking that was better but now I need a bundle of copper wire on the bike too. On the upside, I can easily pull in any direction. You may be able to take some weight out the winch mount as it is is just for storage not winching forces.

Mount the anchor point high up on a tree , then you get lift while pulling and don't tip the bike.

Then there is the problem of finding a suitable tree that happens to be near the bog your mired in. Within 25ft of the available spool.
