Helmet has an 1" minor scratch. Jacket and vest have scratches from the fall (totally rideable), left shoe has a small ripped. Backpack has some scratches. Told them that gloves were thrown away. So technically evidense are there. I just really love my jacket, it also comes with riding pants (2 piece suit) that I wasn't wearing at the time.
Either way, glad that I always wear my gear. Walked away without a scratch from that nasty flip.
I guess I got a little bit greedy, not that insurance rape us all the time :-/
Thought I could benefit from them.
Great post.. Way to ADMIT to insurance fraud on a PUBLIC forum. You have stated you kept the gear as it is still usable, and you were "trying to benefit from them"
Now I am sure you think your safe as you haven't provided any Personal identifiers. But a decent insurance fraud investigator could track you down easily with the following info:
1. accident happened in June 2013
2. Bike was a total loss.
3. claim was for bike and the gear as you mentioned it all above including the specific jacket brand name
4. your adjuster called, (within the last few days), looking for damaged gear, (insurance companies keep notes on EVERY call they make to a client).
Now there might be say 100 claims that meet two of these criteria, but to meet all four there is likely only ONE claim... yours.
Now would a company pursue fraud charges for this small amount? Not likely, BUT they may very well seek restitution for the gear, then they will drop you and it WILL be recorded that you were dropped for insurance fraud... Good luck on getting a new policy from anyone, especially one that you will be able to afford.
I guess you should have:
1. been less "greedy"
2. sent in the gear
3. NOT posted anything about this on a public forum. You can rest assured the insurance companies visit forums like this.
