Is GTAM the new "kijiji"?

when i sell stuff, i have a little blurb at the bottom of my ads that has all that info in it about low ballers taking a hike, to whether i ship or not. you'd be surprised at what people settle for...i've gotten some good deals just for asking, some people put up ads and you never know what they'll accept...so this is why people ask...once you sell more stuff, you get an idea at what people will waste your time with...if they are too lazy to read the ad properly, i just tell them to take a hike...
 
Bottom line anything is only worth what someone will pay for it. Made an offer on a cuda in June of 2011..He got all ****** and said its worth more and he knows better.the car is still for sale and has dropped to close to where I was offering. He is now desperate and his ad says " make an offer my wife wants to go to florida"
I bought another car in the meantime or my offer would be 10k less than what it was over a year ago and I would bet he would take it.


Agreed, we both know this is the case with racebikes(the build cost this particular bike was in excess of $30k) as it was a brand new bike and all brand new parts were used.

I didn't get angry about the offers at all, just said no thank you.

I decided to sell mid season(when very few buy) now it's season end when racebikes become hot sellers again and less than a week after the final national I had a bidding war going(I actually sold it for more than asking price)

Being in need of the funds may have put a different spin on things

But....it's frustrating when I specify in an ad that my price is FIRM (even if it's to my own disadvantage), and I still get lowball offers. It's just a waste of my time, and obviously theirs.

Recent response I've gotten: "I know you said no lowball offers, but would consider $xxxxx cash?? I don't really consider that a lowball" (meanwhile, it totally is). If some people feel my asking price is too much, or that it's unreasonable, they should go look elsewhere for an equivalent that's priced in their range.

Sure. But it's annoying for me, because when I take the time to say "no lowballs" in my ad, I mean it.
 
When I put o.b.o in my ad I'm just going to have to assume that people are going to call with their best offer. Its always up to me to say yes or no.

Back on topic. My price is the haggle me down 20$ price. Nothing more. You ask for more i will not bend over and take it as i said NO. Please refer to my 2nd sentence.
 
I remember I was selling a $500 portable AC unit (In the middle of the huge heat wave this summer) that was used maybe 4 days (Was given it from Father in laws ex) and I was asking $200 FIRM.
The highest offer I got for it was $120 (Before I sold it for $200) and the lowest was $50 with delivery.

I usually just email low-ballers back and told them just for them the price went up to $250.

pardon my ignorance... why do race bikes become in demand again at the end of the season? Is it to prep them for the next season? I only ask because I am considering buying a track bike.

after the last round everyone puts their bike up for sale and upgrades
 
so, 'lower' end bikes would go for lower since there'd be a glut of them out there, but 'higher' end would go up since the demand would spike.

a lower end bike is still an upgrade to someone else.

guy puts his 2010 up for sale to upgrade to a 2012, but a guy selling his 08 wants to upgrade to the 2010. you get my drift
