Is GTAM the new "kijiji"?

Now bear in mind I live in Newmarket. The item for sale is small enough to be shippable. Here's a typical response;

can u bring it to me i dont drive and i live im brampton

Actually I think the best reply to an ad ever was when i was giving away a TV. Someone asked if I would deliver it 2.5hrs away for free as well...lol

Stupid me tried to buy a trailer hitch off of kijiji without asking for pics. Showed up to pick it up and I have never seen so much rust. It basically had no paint on it and the metal was getting thin from rust. He was asking $80, so I wasn't expecting BNIB, but I was expecting something that I would trust pulling a trailer with. I didn't even bother offering him the $20 it may have been worth as I couldn't be bothered griding the whole thing down to ensure there was some metal left.

If people don't put a description or pictures, I assume decent condition and if I am going to offer less than the asking price, I make that clear in the initial correspondence.

My favorite GTAM story is still Donavon leaving a guy in his driveway with two flat tires after the guy lowballed on the tires once they were installed. Classic.

LMAO. Thats what i get ALL THE time.

Okay thats nice you live in Brampton/mississauga or Timbucktoo. Im on the east end of things, get in your car and drive like the rest of us who want something.
Or youll drive all over gods green earth on your bike, jump on your bike and enjoy a nice ride out here to pick it up.

Its like for some people once you cross the 427 or the 400, its a foreign country no one has travelled too or something ..

Thats nothing. I had one guy recently want me to load my bike up and drive it out to London, just so he could have a look it to decide whether he wanted it or not!!

I use to sell items we made on the side of the road.....alot cheaper and better quality than any store. Everything priced very reasonable....had some who bought a few items buy at a reduced price no problem.
But... and I mean no disrespect....when Italians stopped....they are insane. They will haggle you mental...and after wearing you out you finally give in just to shut them up....they aren't sure whether they want it or not....lol. It came to the point if Italians stopped and asked about a better price than posted I would say ...for you the price is $50...even though priced at $20. They would be dumb founded.
I say this even though my step father is as Italian as you can get...he wanted nothing to do with them when it comes to selling. But when he is a buyer...he is as bad as the rest of them.
I'd say if you go into Canadian Tire...do you haggle with the store employee's ?

I recently had someone come by my place to pick up a few items I was selling.

They started browsing around my garage looking at various race bike parts, gear etc, he made an interesting statement.

"I'll take any of this stuff if you want to get rid of it,,,, FOR FREE!"

..the response is "you can have whatever you can carry in your arms for free.......but it's $2000 to leave my garage".

I love how I intentionally list "NO TRADES" in my ads and still get a plethora of idiots asking me if I'll trade for their "souped-up" (yeah right) Celica.

I currently have a jacket listed on kijiji. It's a $400 A* jacket. I've worn it all of three times. The ridiculous low ball offers. Aye Carumba! No, I will not take $50 for it. I'm asking $175, so give me a realistic offer. That said, I don't even reply to them.

I had a guy come take a look at my gsxr 600 couple years back. He shows up and tells me he's 19 (looked older) and asked me what insurance would be like for a 05 gsxr 600 lol, he just got his m1 last week. Then asks me how hard its to ride, and how fast it goes?

At that point i was speechless, told him i gotta go and he should probably look into these things before coming to look at a bike.
He tells me he's got the cash for it and if i could ride it down to the mechanic for him the next day. I said sure, never heard from him again.

I lost count of how many people actually call, tell you they'll show up and then never show. No phone call, no email, nothing. Just leave you hanging, wasting your time.

Will you take a modded ps 2 for it with 10 games?? hahah (real offer i got before btw)

I've had 3 offers of $5-$7k for the racebike I'm selling right now for $11k
That's a pretty good offer lol

I had a guy offer me his 99 600 sportbike with 60K for my cbr1000rr. STRAIGHT trade lol
His reasoning? No one wants a 1000cc sportbike. And bike was dropped. I've actually had another guy use the same line for his 03

Don't forget the assh-les that say they're from Helifax. They will act all interested and ask you the proper questions about an item your selling then they'll add "I'm from Helifax". Oh really? Did you not see it said LOCAL DEALS ONLY FFS!?! I've had 2 guys on here that said that!!

I'll give you tree-fiddy and suckee suckee.

I can empathize. My best advice is to not feed the trolls.

i was selling some cables that sell
on kijiji for $100 and i was asking only $40 because i just wanted a quick sale...

buddy emails me and offers $30..

i am like dude u want to skin me for $10? whats that gona get you ? a double bigmac combo?

I don't know about the rest of you guys but it's almost expected to be low-balled on kijiji; therefore, my list price is usually double what I want. And when someone offers me half of what i listed, I hum and haw a bit before agreeing to the price I essentially wanted in the first place (half of what I listed it for).

Having said that, when I see a price for an item that I think is high, I lowball it - reflecting back to my own m.o. for posting ads, of course. Rarely are people offended, mostly they just don't respond which is really a shame... often I am very interested in an item but I throw out a low offer to cut through the seller's fantasy price and get a better idea of what they're realistically willing to take. If they don't respond altogether than it's a missed opportunity for both of us. Meh.

Had my bike up on kijiji for about a day before i took it down due to morons. "whats the km's?, ever been down, what mods, is it really yellow?" Do people actually read the ad or look at the pictures before they fire off stupid emails or texts?

Bottom line anything is only worth what someone will pay for it. Made an offer on a cuda in June of 2011..He got all ****** and said its worth more and he knows better.the car is still for sale and has dropped to close to where I was offering. He is now desperate and his ad says " make an offer my wife wants to go to florida"
I bought another car in the meantime or my offer would be 10k less than what it was over a year ago and I would bet he would take it.
