Just reading the news today…insanity south of the border.

Firing FBI agents that investigated him

Locking govt websites down and being taken over by Elon

Tariffs

Literally dismantling the country in record pace

Are we next? Is this our future also? I would have never imagined in my lifetime that the US would start imploding within weeks

What the eff is going on? Or is this just one big joke?

People voted for change and they got it. The ridiculous nature he is going about it is going to hurt PP as all of the competition will push Trump lite arguments. Singh has now risen to the second worst political leader we have had imo. This is all on him.

Anyone who ever wondered about the fall of Rome can now watch as it happens to the US.

The problem is we’re literally next door…and we have lots of resources they want…

The unhinged attitude and attacks over the last 72hrs or so…almost makes me wonder if they’ll just say ‘you know what…I need the resources you have Canada…so ready or not…here I come!’

Well what else would anyone expect when their elected leader still thinks that he is the "star" of a reality TV show.
If you want to get insight into his management style or game all that you have to do is watch some reruns of that show.
Same moves to manipulate anyone under him, haven't changed any if anything except age has blurred his instinct some.
welcome to clown world.

Gonna brush up on defence tactics should the Americans want to free us…or our resources.

I was thinking more of this, but orange:

If you research the powers of our PM nothing would be out of the question. The first step in taking over a country is to dumbify the population. Tick that as done.

Next is to create descent. Done.

Bloat and overpay the civil service so they join the team. Done

Encourage personal debt. Done

All you have to do is pull out the rug.

Gee I thought this was another @ToSlow thread! :ROFLMAO:

I think we have a long way to go before we catch up to the craziness happening south of here. I know it might not appear that way with the "politics" going on, but I don't think it's close. Hopefully when PP get's into office he tones down the nonsense and gets back to the grindstone like he's been saying. But these tariffs I bet will put a wrinkle in all that.

While clearing booze off the shelves sounds good, that is already bought and paid for. All you are doing is increasing costs. Selling out stock and refusing to re-order until at least a month after tariffs are removed seems more effective.
That depends what the contract states. Some buying entities have a clause where they effectively buy on consignment.

Product doesn’t sell? Here you go. Have it back please.

Best Friend? Thats a bit of a stretch. As an outsider I see very, very few Canadians that like America/Americans. The way people from Quebec look at the rest of Canada is the way Canadians look at Americans, with a large chip on their shoulders. Its even evident on this board, there is maybe 2-3 people out of hundreds that have a favorable disposition to the US. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of people back home that dislike the US too but they aren't neighbors and it doesn't come from a false sense of superiority (Aussies don't take themselves as seriously as Canadians I find).

Personally, I feel poking the bear in the eye after it takes a test bite out of your leg is a little futile and may lead to a pretty savage mauling.

Canada got its notice with Trump 1.0 and we failed to diversify our economy, to find new markets, and to become less reliant on the US. First time shame on Trump, second time shame on Canada.

Trump talked up tariffs during his campaign and the only surprise here should be that he won the election. I think most Canadians assumed, or hoped, that Harris, as poor a candidate as she was, would win by a narrow margin.

Surveys say that most Americans like Canada and do not support tariffs or any action that would hurt Canada. Trump acts for himself and the MAGA crowd who believe his lies. Oddly enough, the impact of tariffs paid by Americans will negatively impact low income Americans, many of these are Trump supporters. Good, let them suffer.

We spend 3 - 4 weeks a year in the US and I do not dislike Americans as individuals, I dislike their brutal, take no prisoners, politics and many of their decisions that impact other countries. Canadians often resent the US because they seem to know, or care, so little about us. We're simply not on their radar, we're pretty much irrelevant to most Americans day to day.

The tariffs kick in next week and we may see Trump escalate as he threatened to punish any retaliation. We all better buckle up as it will likely get worse before it gets better. As prices increase in the US, auto production slows or stops in some areas, Americans get laid off when does Trump blink and back off? Trump has a history of doubling down and refusing to accept responsibility. He will have to find, or be given, an out that permits him to declare that he "won" the trade war to save face.
