If you had 9 Days of Vacation, Where Would you Ride to? Starting location: Toronto

I've been wanting to do a trip to the East Coast, more specifically Cabot Trail. Also on my list of places to go is most definitely Deal's Gap

For 9 days? No way for me, Deals Gap is great for a 3-4 day trip. Not much more than that

I would do Colorado and surrounding states. Two days of dead boring interstate each way leaves five days of riding bliss.

I would skip right thru NY and PA...I can be in WV in 4.5 hrs.
Then I would spend days riding both WV and VA, maybe into TN, then up into KY, back across WV, into MD, then up thru New England and thru the Catskills to home.
I would make a point of visiting as many abandoned places as I could string together.

9 consecutive track days? LOL

Naw, I'd go for Deal's Gap or to the Maritimes, since I've never been before.

PA,OH,WV,VA,NC,TN,KY and GA.
If trailering, definitely ride The Rocky Mountains. Rockies will be my biennial destination from now on!

Run the coast at Cabot Trail
then take ferry from Halifax to Boston and loop back through NY

East Coast; maybe run the BRP end-to-end with a stop in Deal's Gap, and explore NC/TN more - I dunno, Tail of the Dragon can be a decent 5 day trip if you don't slab it down, not sure if I could stretch it to 9. But I took a week for an East Coast trip and it was rushed.

Every trip I've been on has been rushed. That used to be OK, pounding out the mileage 12-14 hrs. a day. No more.

I could see using 9 days to go to Wawa via Manitoulin Island, Elliot Lake, Chapleau etc. Heck, do the Soo to Wawa and 129 to Chapleau both ways. Nice and easy, really soak it in. Just bum around and zig zag.

There's lot of other stuff in TN, NC, SC, and GA to see other than the dragon. Could easily do 9 days with the BRP down and back.

The Dragon is overrated. There are a thousand roads just like it between Ontario and there.People just don't see them, because they slab it to get there and back.Take the 9 days and enjoy some really great roads between here and there. As far as I'm concerned the Dragon is one of those things you have to do at least once(I've done it a couple times)but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it again. As a matter of fact I was less than 50 miles from it back in July and never even had the urge to ride it.Last year almost got taken out by an ambulance coming to pick up a woman that had dumped her Harley and broke her leg on it.

44 percent of the trip spent super slabbing seems wrong to me - just head south and you're into good roads (PA) by early afternoon the first day. Keep heading south WV and VA also have great roads - you couldn't ride them all in 9 days. At least I wasn't.

Omnivore what abandoned places have you been to? My wife & I always add those into our trips. Recently we've been to the burning ghost town of Centrailia PA, Eastern State Penn. PA, the Kinsua Bridge collapse PA, the Evans City Cemetary (opening scene of Romero's Night of the Living Dead), the Fugitive train in Dillsboro NC, the ghostowns of Thurmond WV and Gay MI amongst others.

I would just pick a destination and freestyle my way there. You've got 9 days to get there which is actually a reason not to plan!

I would want to do the east coast but that might not even be enough time to really enjoy it.

How so? He has 9 days total, if he can do 2 1000km days in a row he has 5 days to enjoy it. Cabot trail is only 2000km from Toronto.

There are dozens of towns, parks, and hikes worth stopping for. I can't count how many times I've stopped in a random interesting town on my bike and just spent the night there. And sometimes you get wicked suggestions from locals for things worth checking out.

I used to plan out my trips really thoroughly and while you get to see everything you want to see, it doesn't leave much room for all the spontaneous and memorable things that can pop up (if you allow them to).
