I Saw You: V.2.0

Don't be such a grandma.

It's not about being a "grandma", it's about cell phones, drunk driving, and simply bad drivers (who are drunk and/or using their phones) putting everyone, especially riders, at an unnecessary risk. C-Note doesn't get it, and neither do you.

Quit being so uptight, taking a quick picture with your cell phone in no way compares to drunk driving.

How do you know he wasn't at a red light? I know riders who take pictures and chat on red lights.

I've met one that was stupid enough to do it while riding (he was using it as a GPS) and couldn't keep a steady throttle, pissing off everyone behind me (including me) in a 10 person group ride. We no longer ride with him (his name is Dave, rides a red 848).

If people actually exercised caution and common sense the world be a better place! (Do not run for a ball if a truck is coming in that lane!)

Who said it compared? Although now that you mention it, many have compared it to impaired driving. Some would say it's worse because prolific; drive down any busy street and start counting how many are using their phones. And, IMHO, I'm not talking about those talking on their cell with their heads up and driving, I'm talking about those texting or manipulating their cell to, oh I dunno, put the phone into camera mode, frame the shot, and take the pic, all which is done with eyes off the road.

I know it's not at a red light (or any other stop) because while the van is in focus, the ground and the wheel are blurred in a manner consistant with movement. That and the riders don't have their feet on the ground and I very much doubt they're hover bikes.

So, you never turn the radio on/off? Change stations? Insert/eject discs? Engage in a conversation with a passenger or on the phone? Do you drive with both hands on the wheel at all times?

I'm not saying I disagree with you entirely, I just don't think it's as big of a deal as you make it out to be.

Let's be real here; we're not talking the same level of lack of attention to simply turn on/off the radio or hit a preset, not to mention that the device is mounted not in your hand (or worse, in your lap so you can hide it from the police). It's obvious we're not going to be on the same page here. I think you'll find that you're in the minority on this site, but whatever.

Edit: (now that you edited your post) You mention a few other activities, all of which can be done while still watching what you're doing. Texting, taking pictures, etc... requires that you aren't looking at the road. See the difference? And I never said exactly how big a deal I was making of it; my original post simply pointed out the fact of what C-Note was doing.

And what is this "disk" you speak of that you have to insert/eject?

I change tracks, sometimes, on my iPod at red lights. But it involves taking off them gloves and opening pocket zippers =P

I just think the cell phone law is a little bit stupid as it implies that if an officer see me changing tracks on what looks like a phone (iPod Touch) at a red, I can be charged. I completely agree that cell phone users in cages that are moving need to be trialed under the HTA172 though =P

The intent is to stop you from doing things that take your attention away from operating a vehicle, like fiddling with electronic devices. It's not just about cell phones.

I know. I still think dinging at red lights is stupid, but considering that most people who use electronic devices at red lights will continue to use them after it turns green (aka. cell phone conversations), I suppose the blame should be shifted on society...but hell, that's near impossible to correct -_-

I've had a cop watch me look for and change songs on my ipod at a red, as long as it goes down at the green they don't seem to mind unless it's a "blitz"

Being in the right lane, with no traffic in front of me, snapping a pic of a couple bikes in my side view mirror, and not even a good picture (both bikes aren't clearly visible in my mirror) and you think I was dangering other drivers? Ease up there fella @coyo.

I don't like risking these things. Considering that some cops don't care about lane splitting then occasionally one will decide to charge someone with stunting...my paranoia levels are high lol

Confirmed; doesn't get it.

I think what he's simply trying to say is: if you can't do it on your bike, don't do it in a car. (And if you do take pictures while riding, you either got mad skillz or you're an accident waiting to happen lol)

well this thread took an interesting turn :lmao:

Arguments like this are the reason I need to take a break from gtam from time to time.
(I'm not commenting on who's right or wrong btw)

NOW - I saw a green ninja 650r today at Matheson and Mavis. Around 8am
