Yes there definitely are no parking signs there.. I'm not sure if you can get a ticket because it's a private sign and not a bylaw sign (I'm also not sure that you can't) but you could definitely get towed.. I risk it. I'm never there long enough for them to get a flatbed out.. and it's not in any body's way so who knows if they'd call.. so far so good.

Why does everyone think "private signs" aren't real signs...at work we have vehicles ticketed and towed all the time by Toronto Police. The "private" signage is still a by-law sign. In other municipalities it's a small fee to have the By-Law number sticked to the sign. Obey all signage unless you're willing to pay a ticket or tow/impound.

And as Rob said, I've never once seen parking enforcement wait for a flatbed.

IMHO, dont park like this in a big parking lot people! cars cannot see the bike until its too late.

i always try to park diagonally and right at the begining of the parking spot to make sure that the rear end/rear tire is visible if someone is driving in the parking lot looking for a spot.

+1, if I use an actual parking space, I always leave it at the very edge of the spot so some idiot doesn't turn into it quickly and destroy the bike.

totally agree.. I don't leave it right at the edge of the line but I leave it visible. The closer you get to the line that ends the spot the bigger the chance of someone hitting it, specially on busy areas.

OMG thanks for the tip! THIS IS HOW I ALWAYS PARKED... cuz I liked to put things right in the middle...ADD...

Yup...I speak from experience...my previous bike got hit and damaged like that cause it was too far in...now it's basically on the edge of being outside of the space.

we you considered PARTIALLY at-fault for parking the way you parked?

Given how few people actually stick around if they hit a parked vehicle, in a parking lot, the insurer could well question how the incident occurred.

Not that someone in a Yukon Denial is ever actually going to be able to see a bike though, no matter how it's parked.

shopping at costco on a bike?

From March until Late November or sometime in December I pretty much only ride my bike. I shop at Costco all the time. The toilet paper gets strapped onto the back seat. If I have a lot to carry otherwise I'll put on the 41 litre side cases and make sure my topcase isn't already full of stuff.

Shopping there with the bike helps keep the costs down!

If you get hit while parked illegally you are still NOT at fault. Just as an fyi.

That said parking all the way into your spot DOES NOT mean you parked illegally.. it's just a friendly tip that if you do, your bike might get knocked over.. HOWEVER it's still 100% the cagers fault for hitting it. You are entitled to your entire space and can park at whichever end of it you like legally speaking.. just like ridding in your tire tract on the road is a good idea for safetey and visibility reasons.. but if you choose to ride down the dead centre or even in the other tract that's your business. you are entitled to your entire lane.
