I like this alarm...

Re: If I owned this forum...

With all due respect to the OP, because I applaud his effort to stop theft and foster a more positive attitude on this forum, ( cause it's largely uninformed vitriol ) his idea is a complete flop. People are not going to jump through hoops to join a forum. And most bikes are stolen by four guys with a van while the alarm is blazing.

But thanks for having the nads to suggest a solution at least.

Re: If I owned this forum...

Why would you force new members to buy something? No one would join. It would be cool if GTAM had discount codes with manufactures/dealers.

I too applaud your effort to stop theft. But as many have pointed out, it's only piece of mind not every one is 10 seconds away from their bike.

Re: If I owned this forum...

Alarms don't stop the thefts

Re: If I owned this forum...

If I owned this forum I'd ban you for your negative attitude. What if this thread saved a few bikes from being stolen? I'd ban all the negative energies from here as they've run this forum into the ground. Keep your negative BS to yourself!

You would probably get a more positive response if you posted threads in the appropriate sub forums. If your trying to hurt my feelings, don't bother. I don't have any.

This forum has gone down hill because of the lack of actual discussions. Can't disagree with anyone for fear of the ban hammer.

Re: If I owned this forum...

That would still be 4k bikes. And there's only 6500 members using Tapatalk. If all the bikes were stolen from Tapatalk users, that number jumps to 66%. Not sure where I'm going with this. Buy an old cruiser. Make sure it's purple. Best anti theft eva!

Yeah and even if they don't mind the colour they won't want to touch those sticky handle bars from all the melted ice cream.

.. Oh fudge was that to negative?.

Re: If I owned this forum...

this thread actually had me laughing....

here are some questions for the OP to think about while he is reading this

- what if the potential new subscriber doesn't have a motorcycle when he / she joins?

- What if after reading this forum he / she decides a motorcycle is not their thing? why should they be stuck with a useless lock that pages you whenever a squirl runs past the transmitter ?

- what if I already have a superior alarm system?

- what if my bike is insured and I don't care if it gets stolen?

now to address some of your concerns:

- just because everyone doesn't embrace your "genius" idea, and treats it like the gospel doesn't mean they are being negative, they just disagree with you, get over it.

- if you think that your bike holds more value than you family members, friends, or humans in general, you need to have your head examined, its only a piece of metal on rubber wheels that goes vroom vroom or braap braap or yut ughhhhh nothing more.

- this specific alarm is absolutely useless if you live in a condo because by the time you wait for the elevator and make your way down to the underground your bike will be in the back of a white van, with a pillow duct tapes around the alarm so it doesn't annoy the vehicles occupants

- out of everyone who replied I have yet to see one reply that says "OMG, how did we not think of this before, this is absolute genius!", coincidence?

- I have 2 bikes, many people on this forum have more than 2, how do I decide which one of them I protect with my new GTAM mandated alarm?

- what is so special about this product? pager alarms have been around for years, and thiefs have been stealing cars / bikes with or without them.

anyway not trying to bring you down just trying to show some different views on your proposal.

Cheers

Max

Re the bold type: One reason many small mom and pop businesses fail is that their friends don't want to tell them that their idea isn't all that great.

In a crowded venue I could see kids doing the "Ring the bell and hide in the bushes" trick. We used to do it to a co-worker and his alarmed car. Enjoy your day.

You posted that you have weapons at hand along the path to your garage. If you use them it's premeditated assault. Thanks for letting the police know.

People get sick of over sensitive alarms to the point they'll help the thieves load the vehicle just to get rid of the noise.

Re: If I owned this forum...

To answer your questions Max, if you think the thefts don't affect us all, TD Insurance, my current insurance company has black listed high-end European bikes. I was going to add a 2015 M4 Agusta F4R to my collection. TD won't insure MV Agusta. The rest of your questions are easily answered by yourself. A word from the Baron on this topic:

I agree. This forum has gone downhill due to lack of discussion. My feeling is that good people come here to have those discussions but they leave quickly as they read the overpowering fatalistic negative Ned responses to just about everything. Makes me wonder how these people get up and face the world each day. People are hardwired to avoid negativity, so they move on to another forum. This forum used to be a blast. But all the fun positive people left after several large disappointments, and the negative members remained. You positive guys in the background have to start calling them out and posting more. It makes them go quiet. The forum needs your balance.

Re: If I owned this forum...

There are thousands of these videos on YouTube. Watch them. Then re-watch them with the Bully screaming. 90% of these thieves would have split. You're in the coffee shop beside this building, the key fob screams as well. Thief tries last ditch attempt to roll bike away, The Bully stops that. He drops the bike and leaves. Three out of four variables have just been covered by an alarm that cost $100 that fits in your backpack.

Re: If I owned this forum...

Sounds like a sales pitch to me. The whole appeal of a FREE forum is that it is FREE. If you don't want to read "Stolen Bike" threads, don't click on them. You could just as easily change the rules to "Don't buy fancy sport bikes that thieves like to steal" but that again seems like a stupid, arbitrary rule for joining. I've never had theft insurance in my life. I leave my bike parked in parking lots for hours without a care in the world. I do however tend to ride bikes that thieves don't even look twice at, even when they are new bikes. If people are worried about theft, they will take the steps they feel are necessary to keep their bike safe without being forced to as a pre-requisite to joining an on-line forum.

Now, if you're happy with this product, a well written review in the review section would be most welcome.

I have no vested interest in Bully Alarms other than I own four because they amaze me. To get the sort of protection they offer for $100 is pure genius. No hardwired alarm to kill your battery either, the fatal flaw of motorcycle alarms. Made in the USA too. I have yet to see anything comparable. If you find a cheaper knock off, buy it.

I also was amazed by Akuma Helmets (also made in USA) and own a few. They sadly just went out of business due to mismanagement, so you'll find some great deals on eBay on some very slick helmets. The guy that owned the company is a fighter pilot. Too bad this company didn't make it. Their helmets got some stellar reviews. Offer them half the asking price on eBay and you'll likely get the lid.

so let me get this straight, you decided not to buy a bike because one insurance company wont insure it????? did you ever think to go check a different insurance company?

you think that wheel lock alarm is so loud? wrap a pillow around it and let us know how loud it is then
