I GOT my SHOT

Well, that explains everything! lol

Got AZ'd before the weekend. Felt a little hung over'ish the next day and sore arm, but fine otherwise.

Just waiting out the blood clot window now
Talked to a family friend today....early 50s, single, male, overweight, diabetic, pills pills pills...

‘did you get your shot?’
‘Nah I don’t want the AZ’
‘Wha? Why?’
‘Blood clots’
‘Uhmmm.....chance is pretty small bud. You’re taking a higher risk than getting it’
‘Nah man I’m good. I’ll just wait it out until the J&J is available so I don’t have to do 2 shots.’
‘Ok cool. Well thanks for that. Means I was able to get it sooner thanks to guys like you.’

Got the AstraZeneca today, at Shopper's Drugmart in my home town (just a bit north of Waterloo). Lucked out in getting it.
Popped in after work, somebody had just cancelled, literally, a minute before I walked in the door. I asked if they had an extras, and got in to the cancelled slot 2 hours later.
7 hours later, no side effects as of yet.

The pharmacist mentioned they are estimating a 4 month (!!!) period before second shot availability. Sigh.

*edit - 2nd shot line

18 hours later, only side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine is a slightly sore deltoid muscle. Feels like after a good workout. If I rub the injection point, it's a very dull ache. Pain level negligible.

Lucky you! I woke up about 3 am that night with uncontrollable shivering, then the next day felt like I had a flu: fever, headache, muscle aches. Weirdest part was sore eyes and a sensitivity to light. After about a day it went away, but in hindsight I wished I booked the day off.

I've had the flu shot multiple times with no reaction, so it seems to be a bit of a crap shoot...

That’s about what I experienced. Almost felt like I was stoned all day long with a mild buzz (unpleasant) lol

Getting the Moderna shot this morning.
Hopefully this will be gentle

The mine I’m working in is giving a $50 CC for volunteering testing three times per rotation

So far I’ve seen about 30 people who work to get the vaccine in people arm. Busy place

Talked to some buddies on my FIFO site. They had the AZ on offer and some took it but people got spooked by the blood clots so not many took it.

Proving once again that anecdotal evidence carries way more weight than statistical evidence in our ape brains...

There was a good quote today from a doctor on AZ blood clot carrying similar risk to being struck by lighting. I haven't checked the details of the comparison to see how accurate it is but it is memorable. How many people do you know that got struck by lighting? How many people do you know that have caught covid so far?
