I get it, you're excited to ride but...

It's gotten so bad @ Timmies now people are asking me No bike today? I guess it beats Isn't it cold/wet on that thing? And then I read this thread. FML

I did not stopped riding since last year, but I will suggest the same as the OP, if you can't enjoy riding without pulling a wheelie, tailgating while doing 100kph and above, putting their knee down in the corner, speeding etc.
Its still cold, sand is on the corners, your race spec tires don't get warm compared to touring tires.
I don't get riders blaming sand in the corners for going down, you went down because you rode over the sand and you are leaned low that you cant recover, you are riding beyond your skills, you are riding beyond your bike's/tires capability.
Sand don't creep on on their own across the road except if they were like this snow http://youtu.be/h2K33otuBIE or your in a sandstorm.

http://youtu.be/_cPd-D0WNr0 this is my cruise through forks last week, too much melting snow and I treat all wet surface as possible ice.

So if you feel that you need to do sudden acceleration, braking, corner with your knees down. Please stay at home and be safe its still too cold for you to enjoy riding safely.

This, this, and this. Now is not the time to ride hard, but it *is* the time to ride.

To anyone getting cold hands: Get rain covers for your gloves, and wear them whenever it's cold out. They'll be 100% wind resistant, so if you've got even a little bit of insulation in your gloves you'll be golden.

Last year I did a Tremblant run at the end of march. Elephant road was full of sand, except for the tire tracks. It was an intense ride, but very very fun having to follow the tire tracks perfectly.

Overall, march/april/june are my favorite riding months.

So.... you just don't ride at all in May?

I don't only ride in my favorite months...

I hate the cold. Younger days didn't mind it all too much. Now.. No thanks. I'm waiting until the end of April ish. Unless the snow comes back.

Was out today for the first time. It felt great. However, as the OP cautions there is sand and crap on the road. Got to be extra careful taking turns.

And they say I need a head-check for riding below freezing. When all you need is to put a check on those wrists.

Personally I'd rather see the Bad Judgement/Careless ones weeded out from riding. Keeps our roads safer. Too early for these types of reports. Stay Safe Guys.

But they're taking out innocent pedestrians with them

I doubt the weather had anything to do with that. Idiots will be idiots regardless of the temperature.

I don't understand why people are making it such a big deal for people who choose to ride early in the season. We know the risks and if we go down why does it matter to anyone anyways? It's not like most of the people telling me it's a bad idea to ride actually care or are going to be at my bedside at the hospital anyways so really what's it to them. Haters gonna hate and I'm going to keep riding.

Again, no one is telling you NOT to ride, we're just saying to take it easy. I pulled my bike out today and went for a 300 km run with some friends.

What is with all this "haters are going to hate" nonsense? I keep seeing it more and more around here.

Exactly. Everyone has an opinion but you know what they say about those.... I've been out all week and other than being civil in corners I don't see what everyone is babbling about. The roads are fine and I'm well out of the city where we had more snow and crap.

What a pointless thread. People crash any time of year and some people ride all year without crashing. If someone wants to go for a ride in a foot of snow during a snow storm who cares?

Unless they're holding me up in my WRX. Then someone should run them over. :lmao:But pretty much everyone else in cars is holding me up, anyway.
