I get it, you're excited to ride but...

I only ride on Sundays between 11am and 2pm when the temp is between 24 and 27 and there is no rain in the 5 day forecast.
Can't be too careful - don't want my plastics to get dirty.

ride it, don't ride it. Keep it shiny, lay it down. I couldn't care less. You guys do you and I'll do me, I'm not making MY decision based on a thread on the internetz lol

Wait a sec, so you are actually riding, while even the OP himself, who started this thread, isn't ?

How dare you !

Anyone want to meet for a rumble, fight club style? It's been a long winter! :-)

The first rule about riding early in the season is you don't talk about riding early in the season.

Thats what people should do, ride their own ride when they want to ride it.
This thread is basically a "I told you so" to anyone that has fallen during late winter/early spring months.

I thought that was a given.

GTAM is for entertainment purpose only.

Nothing wrong with bringing some attention to being "extra" careful out there. The winter did suck and that can help some folks to "forget" and just get out there and ride.

Truth is, the road and weather conditions do make things less than ideal. You do have to take extra care and precautions for less traction and poor road conditions.

I'm an opportunist. I can't stand having my bike parked in storage while I'm outside in the warm sun. I'd see that as a wasted day I could have taken a ride. So, I'm always good to go when I get the chance.

But, then again, I'm an old fart that rides a cruiser and just happy on two wheels. I don't have to drag a knee or clip an apex to crack a grin.

Just brought my bike out of winter storage... hands = frozen.

I took it really easy on the roads, still kind of ugly out.

I did not stopped riding since last year, but I will suggest the same as the OP, if you can't enjoy riding without pulling a wheelie, tailgating while doing 100kph and above, putting their knee down in the corner, speeding etc.
Its still cold, sand is on the corners, your race spec tires don't get warm compared to touring tires.
I don't get riders blaming sand in the corners for going down, you went down because you rode over the sand and you are leaned low that you cant recover, you are riding beyond your skills, you are riding beyond your bike's/tires capability.
Sand don't creep on on their own across the road except if they were like this snow http://youtu.be/h2K33otuBIE or your in a sandstorm.

http://youtu.be/_cPd-D0WNr0 this is my cruise through forks last week, too much melting snow and I treat all wet surface as possible ice.

So if you feel that you need to do sudden acceleration, braking, corner with your knees down. Please stay at home and be safe its still too cold for you to enjoy riding safely.

Thank you captain Obvious! ;)

Last year I did a Tremblant run at the end of march. Elephant road was full of sand, except for the tire tracks. It was an intense ride, but very very fun having to follow the tire tracks perfectly.

Overall, march/april/june are my favorite riding months.

What gives you the right to lecture him about lecturing him about lecturing us?

What gives you the right to .....bah..always late to the party.....

Ride in this morning was fine. Nice and warm. Then I stopped and got cold. It's weird, I'm nice and comfy riding and then cold when stopped.
