Not many developers are going to jump on a gravy train headed on a track to nowhere. At least, not any good ones.
Good point. This is likely going to be the best thing that could have happened to the ipad 2 and ipad 3. Millions of people who prefer not to buy the apple product, will buy the HP product. It has a dead-end development path. Those are millions of people who won't buy Samsung or Asus, or whichever other products. That will take some wind out of the sails of developers on those platforms, but will probably not affect ipad sales. It will just give Apple more of a lead in the tablet market.
Put in motorcycle racing terms, there's a guy in second place holding back the rest of the pack. Except you know he doesn't have enough gas to finish the race. That's the best thing that could happen to the guy in first.
the guy in second has a reserve switch no one knows about and he may just get there second
