How many of you guys ride with cameras on your helmets?

Like most riders Go Pro was the way to go. Been riding with a Garmin Virb and the latest is a DJI Osmo Action Camera.

Just bought the Insta One 360 X2. Will load it on a selfie stick. To keep the batteries going added a Ulanzi power bank. Which will give me about an extra 3-4 hour. Plus a spare power bank. Will be interesting.

As "Evoex" mentioned. We do not have a right to privacy in public.
id be interested to know if you find a decent place to mount it where it doesn't have to stick out 3 feet.

That`s what the Gf said.
It will stick out more than 3 feet. About 5 feet. To be able to get the drone affect. I have a mount that will be attached to the framework.

(I love the way we can still say feet).

not personally interested in the drone effect, but if that's the only way to mount this thing then i'll stick with the chin mount.

still haven't seen any mounting system other then ones that sticks it far out. if you have an example feel free to share
For some reason I thought the XR had front fairing mounted mirrors instead of bar mounted. That clamp isn't going to work on bar mounted mirrors because the mirrors aren't far enough forward mounted.

Do we not have a right to film anybody? . Including the LEO. Not sure in Canada but in the USA they are protected by the Constitution. The LEO will ask you a bunch of Questions trying for you to admit your guilt. Example, "Do you know how fast you where going? If you tell them that will be used in Court against you.
You do not have to surrender footage to the police. Whether they can take it from you without you noticing... different story. Also, if they have you for something else serious, in certain circumstances, they can (when they can search you).

There's an old thread partially on the topic. can police seize your video helmet cam??

as far as i recall; if they believe there's evidence of a crime that was recorded they can take it, they can't view it without a warrant (didn't read the thread).

Chin Mount is the only way to go. Because of how the mic is run through on my helmet, the GoPro essentially never comes off. Its giving me an excuse to buy another helmet - one with camera, one without hahaha

I ride with GoPro, not on helmet, but attached to the handlebars to the left of the windscreen. USB continuously powered and large SD card, I can record my whole day without losing power. The only problem is I cannot pan, but so far it has worked out well. It does pick up wind noise but for me the images are more of interest, so the next problem is bug splatter!
What is your SD card size?

Correct, they can seize it then and there but they can take their time to write a warrant. Also, if they seize your camera, you wont get it back until after the court case is complete. Because the camera becomes an exhibit to support the data they would use as evidence.

Whoa! Getting a little personal! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I have 2 128 GB SD cards. Normally I only need 1, but I have found with my GoPro7 sometimes it acts flaky, so backups.
And I believe this is the max size it can handle.

All you fancy people with your new cameras and adhesives

I'm still running an original Go-Pro with the huge Canadarm suction mount ?

But seriously I'd love a new camera and a chin-mount. Though I usually only record epic road trips.

Is there a mount I can screw into the m8x1.25 holes?

I've been considering getting a insta360 as well, to add to my setup.
Same very interested to see how you set it up. Pictures when you get it working would be great.

At this moment in time, I would hold off on buying the Inasta One 360 X2.
In principal they are really good.. I have been looking at many, many U Tube Videos.

I just returned it for not working properly. Did not connect to the remote control. Slow in connecting with the laptop and tablet.

Cost me $140 to return it under warranty.

Check the Videos out there. Seems great if it really works.

Unfortunately, you have to deal with China and the delay with customer service is about 2-3 days. No direct contact, unless you go online and get lucky.

I can keep you updated as to how the warranty goes.

Ohh that is very surprising for the new model which I was under the impression was just a slight improvement over the older one.
I'll look into it more deeper now, thanks for the heads up!
Are you still considering a 360 cam from another vendor?

Yes, from what I understand this model is supposedly better.
Battery life, waterproof.

No, to another vendor. Waiting for Insta One to get back to me regarding the repair. Sent it off yesterday. Should be there by Monday. See how long the process takes.

As previously mentioned, for motorcycle use a 360 camera has a ton of advantages. Inherently excellent image stabilization, automatic horizon leveling and you never accidentally record hours of your dash or the sky because you lined it up incorrectly.

A couple of years ago I bought a cheap used (and now totally obsolete) Insta360 One off ebay for track use. When I was using rented Racer5 bikes for track stuff I mounted the camera on the top of my helmet. In that position you can literally see everything except your own body, so it would be a good (if somewhat goofy looking) mounting location if you wanted it to serve as a dashcam on the street.

As a brand recommendation, the Insta360 Studio PC software is worth mentioning. It's easy to use, and they continue to make updates to it that even support their older models. For instance, the microphone on the One was originally completely useless due to wind noise, but recent updates to the Studio software have made the audio much better. It's still not great, by any means, but at least you don't have to mute the audio anymore when watching the video.

On top of the helmet is begging to get pinched by Toronto’s finest. I see them grilling the kids with the mohawk and pony tail mods these days.
