How long do gloves last?

Awesome gloves. That’s why I’m so upset about it. But my fault for leaving them there. Funny the mice didn’t touch my wife’s leather gloves. Just mine.
I leave my gloves in the garage, but they are on a shelf, not within a container of some sort. I think this way the mice don't get comfortable with them if they are surrounded by other stuff.

Gloves depend on use. There is no date. You'll know when its time when you wear them as thin spots will develop. The more you use them, the more times you take them on and off, that determines how long they last, not days on a calendar.

I've worn out two gloves and it was from the leather in the fingers wearing thin so that's acceptable in my book. I also condition any glove with leather at the end of riding season when i'm doing my other leathers. Seams popping due to bad design/defects is usually spotted early on though imo.

Looking forward to hearing responses. Was digging through old moto gear yesterday and I left the helmets and gloves in the shed. ******* mice tore into my gloves from Velocity and now they’re useless. Didn’t touch the helmets, but the gloves are shot.

Jimmy doesn’t have any stock, and I loved those gloves. None on Kijiji.

sorry for hijack.

My neighbour has a pair for sale, they are medium, I would take them but they are bit small for me, interesting they don’t fit, but my Bickel gloves are a medium and fit perfectly.

Just saw your ad and checked. Mine are size 11/XL and fit smaller than normal. If I was mean I'd start calling you "trump hands".

I'd say most of my gloves last around 100,000km with to treatments. Most of the time it's the stitching at the tip of the index finger that starts to fail. Sometimes a small hole develops on the finger tips. Whenever this type of stuff happens, the gloves are done because I'm no longer convinced they will hold up in a slide.

Favourite gloves used in the past include:
Held Akira Evo
Dainese Carbon
Motoport Kevlar Racing
Dainese 4 Stroke Long - my favourite and current pair

Gerbings Heated G3
Gerbings Heated liners
WarmnSafe Heated Carbon

Wearing my alpinestars celer gloves for 3 years, theres a hole in the index finger tip now, other than that the glove is still fine

Where's he located...the XS fit very snug...so the S may be good, but M may be too big.

Shameless plug, but these will last 10+yrs, with care.
Held Chikara Pro. Brand new with tags, never used.
Size 9 / Large. The fit is a bit big. They feel like 9.5, or 10.
$180.

@Gary Will look into those as it doesn't look I'll be able to score the Velocity ones.

Lifespan is in your favour with Held over Velocity. (keeping within the thread theme)
I still have a pair (Held) >10yrs old in good shape that survived a decent crash.
The Held pair I bought off you several years ago are still being used by my brother!

I find Held gloves in general to be really well made and super comfortable.

I'll echo the comments about the Velocity gloves. I've had mine for three years, I believe this will be the fourth season, and they have held together very well.

I've always heard good things about Held, but most of the ones I've tried on seemed to be made with thicker leather, and felt stiff. I'm guessing they break in well eventually?

That’s my preference but Jimmy said he won’t be putting in an order until the end of the year for next seasons gear. So I’m trying to decide whether to buy something different or use what I have until the time comes.

biggest problem now is everything is closed for in store shopping...and without trying the S or M gloves on I can’t commit $300 on a whim.

Yeah I would agree with that too. The pair I bought off Gary was comfortable from the start, but that could be because they were already lightly used. I forgot that I also went through a pair of the Held Phantom gloves and they felt stiff almost every time I put them on, but within a few mintes of riding they always softened up again - not sure why.

Has anyone else tried the Lee Parks? I've had a pair for three years so far and they're holding up well. Ride down to Alabama had a couple of days of downpour which weathered them a little. The tan colour has darkened quite a bit. My second pair are solid black. Since they don't have all the plastic bits, they fit comfortably from the get go. Only issue I have is that the cut of the thumb seems slightly short for me. Others haven't had this issue.

I find they last till they are worn out... same as shoes.

my last pair of expensive deerskins were done in 3 years. My cheap motorcycle show gloves are going on 7 years, this will be their last.

my beaver winter mitts are 10, they will last another 10.

Your mileage may vary.
