How do you keep your legs warm in fall/early winter?

But it only consists of squats, with weights I carry on my shoulders like a BOSS!

Nice, try to change it up, more variety, you know, single leg squats, calf raises etc

*I think women don't shave their legs to keep them warmer...

I am wearing full leathers if I'm going on a ride for any more than 30 minutes or so. They really do keep me warm (but they're also perforated so I may have to rig up some makeshift insulation). I also heard that wearing latex gloves under your regular gloves is an effective way to keep your hands warm. I haven't personally tried this yet but I will as the days get cooler. For shorter rides, leather jacket up top & jeans (with or without something underneath) on the bottom. I don't mind being a bit chilly if it's a shorter ride

How do I keep warm? After years of layering up and still becoming cold after an hour or so. I cruised e-bay in the off season and picked up a deal with socks, pants, jacket and gloves for $250 delivered to my door. Another $130 for a dual remote temp troller. I can ride comfortably all day long now at about 30% - 40% power, so still lots in reserve. If you can't find a whole set spring for a liner, gloves and a dual controller. It will keep your core warm and make a world of difference to how your legs feel. So much so that I wear my pants and socks only on the coldest days.

I have the same problem, damn my coldbloodedness. In the past I've layered long john's, sweat pants, jeans, and finally rain pants. Worked ok but I looked like a Michelin man and my legs still got cold when riding on the highway in cool single digit weather. I've recently purchased Teknic Sprint pants (Royal is clearing them out) which are waterproof/windproof and have a decently warm liner. Haven't had a chance to give them a proper test, but they seem ok. Rode about 500km in 12c with only a pair of jeans underneath and was fine.

Next I have to figure out how to keep my toes warm as my bike boots are breezy

Cross Country Ski Socks

For legs;

Joe Rocket Ballistic pants
long johns or track pants
cross country ski socks

For hands;

hand-guards
heated grips

In spring and fall I ride up north for hours at a time with this set-up at zero degrees and could make it to the North Pole quite comfortably.

+1 for Joe rocket ballistic pants with long johns or jeans under. Use the rain insert to keep things warmer.

so it'll be very hot in summer??

The vents have a tab on them and I can cycle thru "cool -> warm" in three steps. So that means either I have a cool setup, a cool/warm setup, or a warm setup.

I have textile bike pants that keep me very warm in any weather. I was out in 6 degC Saturday and perfectly warm in jeans. Heated hand grips make a world of difference to staying warm. Get them if you can.

I wear one of these: http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-suits/roadcrafter/roadcrafter-one-piece-suit.html from below zero to +40, rain, sleet or shine.

It's decent in the winter, warm (but not hot) in the summer even with ridiculous humidity provided your're moving, and it keeps me dryer in the rain on my bike than if I ran from my car into my house.

It's a pricey investment, but I only need one suit for all seasons, and all weather. Plus, I've always got decent protection in the event of a crash.

For my hands, I have a pair of hippo-hands: http://www.hippohands.com/Hippo Hands.htm - Canadian company to boot. They're down near Niagara and are some of the nicest people I've ever met.

Just got a Scorpion XDR Commander jacket and the Invasion pants delivered yesterday. Rode in with them today (0 C and frost on the ground where I live) and was toasty warm. About a 1/2 hour ride half highway - half city streets.

Tire wise, my Dunlop D404 front and Bridgestone S11 rear worked fine in the snow/cold last year, never had a grip issue.

Ski gloves, throat warmer under fullface helment also ski jacket over my Joe Rocket jacket and heavy ski pants. I am then as warm as toast for riding along the QEW.
