As the OP noted, he was not travelling in the left lane, he was passing. Please enlighten all of us what the minimum passing speed is so that a faux pas cannot occur in the future.
Just for the record the speed limit on highways is 100kph in ontario, no i am not delusional to believe that most of the population adheres to this, but I find your entitled arrogance toward others inconveniencing you slightly disturbing
You ask for enlightment, so I'll give it:
If it takes you more than 3-5 seconds to pass a vehicle on a four + lane highway, you're not doing it right. The pass should be "set-up" before it begins. The driver in front of you sees you, hopefully anticipates the pass based on your road position and keeps steady. You have already assessd it's safe to make a lane change to pass, and so you do so, quickly and confidently, and thennnnn, you're back in the lane you were riding in. If not, you are cruising in the passing lane, not using it to pass. Passes on a MC that take more than 5 seconds, which is probaly twice the time I take, are cruising, not passing.
I am not the only one who feels inconvenienced on major highways by drivers/riders who cruise in the middle and passing lanes as if it was their right to obstruct the smooth flow of traffic. If you're not able to do 130-140 km/h in the left, or 110-120 in the middle lane, stay the **** right, where the speed limit, or less, can be comfortably applied for those who are uncomfortable at realistic speeds, because as you know, there's the posted limit, and then there's reality. So if you're that type of self-entitling arrogant driver who feels all others around him need to follow his rules, just stuff it, and get the **** out of the way.
They can't raise the speed limits on Ontario highways fast enough IMO. In fact, I'd love to see a tiered licensing system, where riders/drivers who pass performance testing and want to pay extra, can use the left lane to travel 140 km/h *minimum* while turds get to stay the **** right at 100 km/h where they should always be. I'd also love to see that mid-penisula highway built, but call it the Ontobahn, and have no speed limits. Throw in some nice sweepers while you're building it, and charge a 20 dollar toll from Fort Erie to Burlignton. The huge profits that would generate would help pay for improved roads ways all over the province, and allow those who like to go fast and are willing to pay a little extra to get away from the speed limit going, lane hoggers out there that harsh my and fellow speed lovers' ****ing mellow.
If that's not arrogant enough for you, I can take it to the next level.
