Hotter than hell out there

I crossed the border Sunday from Lake George NY. Try sitting in that line up for even 5 minutes in full leathers! Not fun.

Not only the sun, but the heat from the engine was brutal; like sitting in a blast furnace. Thankfully only a five minute wait or I would've stripped down right in the line there. A least I would have been ready for a cavity search!

Buffalo was insane trying to get back into Canada, cars backed whole way over the bridge, out the alternate long path, and up onto the highway, so I headed for Niagara Falls. Total gridlock near the Rainbow bridge, so I carried on to the Nexxus only Whirlpool bridge, and duck walked the bike the whole distance to keep from burning alive. I've never seen it that busy, including the week of 9/11.

A month ago I used to ride squid in this type of weather. Sometimes it takes seeing it in real life to believe it. I thought guys on here were exaggerating on how fast regular jeans shred. My buddy low slid at 40km/h and slid for maybe 3 seconds. The knee area of the jeans instantly ripped open along with his skin.

I'm not gonna tell other people to wear gear though; my gf still squids even though she bought gear that costs more than mine lol

yep.. for sure. I have a gash on my leg and that was through riding pants. it wasnt that a large area, but man did it sting and accounted to many sleepless nights. A Scab has formed now so lots better.. People just dont realize how bad it can be... even with gear..

Been thinking about squidding as well but I value my skin much more than a not completely drenched in sweat body. If this was a video game, between yesterday and today I'm pretty sure I died multiple times...soon it'll be game over x.x

Turned into a gorgeous riding night

for those who rode to work, how to prevent from smelling like a hog when getting to the office?

Take a nice shower for starters and use deodrant/cologne. A moisture wicking shirt also helps dissapate the sweat off your body.

Wow, first hand testimonial for good gear for sure. How back would your leg have been if you were squiding it in shorts or in plain vanilla jeans?

I don't smell, sources are ex girl-friends after a long workout. However, if I don't sleep for 24 hours or more, then I REALLY smell.

I also keep a bottle of cologne on my desk at work and specifically ask people near me to tell me if I stink so I can put it on. No one's asked.

anyone wear one of those bandana that you soak in water,, I think they have foam in them... ?
who carries them for sale?

I wear Dainese knee guards and the Alpinestars hip/butt armour under Velocity jeans. I just can't be bothered with leathers for short rides

Gah! :p

Those Velocity kevlar jeans cannot come fast enough! I have been wearing Icon knee guards and Icon armoured shorts under regular jeans. My hope is that if I were to come off at reasonable speeds that the knee guards would help eliminate/mitigate this.
