Hit & Run

Back in early April, some lady in her cage who was travelling in the left lane decided to make a last minute right turn at an intersection while I was two car lengths behind travelling in the right lane. She signalled after she had already initiated the turn. Her car was pretty much perpendicular to me and had blocked off all my escape routes so I had no choice but to lock up my brakes and slide right into her.

Vaughan, Scarborough, Brampton, Mississauga, I just clump all that into Toronto; it's all the same "I have no time for anything but myself" mentality.

Don't stop at those 4, you can throw in North York and Agincourt, i've never ridden in Etobicoke so I can't comment.

OP, I hope your cousin's ok and that they find the offending driver.

Friday I was on The Queensway getting ready to turn left onto Parklawn road to go down to Lakeshore. I was in the left turn lane and as I start to turn I hear someone honking, I speed up a bit and as I finish my turn I start moving into the right lane and hear the same honk. The driver either decided to turn left from the middle lane or decided they would try to overtake me while turning because there she was right at the edge of my back wheel screaming at me.

So yeah Etobicoke is bad too.

You would be surprised how many people actually believe you're "SUPPOSED" to turn to the lane over even though it doesnt make sense whatsoever (Other than the fact that its easier to do so). Then there are those who just simply don't care and do it anyways.

Not sure what you mean by turn to the lane over

I would have definitely stopped to help out. I guess humanity is lost on some people... Pity..

I hit a deer just outside of bright. Small community. As I stood on the side of he road bleeding from multiple orifices, not one person stopped to see if I was ok. Prolly at least 15-25 cars went by by before ems arrived. Get used to it people, this is the new age where no one gives a fu@k about anyone but themselves. For the few that will stop (me included), we are a minority.

Ask any seasoned rider, they'll tell you if you ride a bike, expect the worst from people who don't ride.

funny thing i and all my cousins we just got a call from one of our cousins who was just chillin cruisin down DVP when some retards cut him off going well over the speed limit, knowing my cousin he's not the type to get into fights or confrontation, so when he texted us the first chance he got after catching up the amg, and trying to slow it down, he then followed it from a far, i was shocked and new something really ticked off my cousin.

The guy in the car stopped in some dark alley so my cousin slowly rode past the guy and his girl, typical gino FAG, guy was in his mid late 30's sterioded out 230 pounds body builder he said. As the guy passes by my cousin he calls my counsin a pussy, thats when **** hit the fan, my cousin turns round and catches up to the driver, the driver pulls off and get out all hyped, comes up to my cousin and my cousin tries to delay and talk to him as the guy talked trash, because we were on the way.

The guy sucker punches my cousin while my cousin is sitting on his sport bike, my cousin barely flinches and manages to hold his 450 pound bike back up from falling, he told us, he was about to get off his bike and Fk this guy up real bad, but the bodybuilder guy got scared after he saw my cousin barely move and manage to nadle a 450 pound bike like it was a bicycle, the guy started walking backwards, and started to appologize, and said, something something, have a nice night, we'll try to have a nice night too, sorry, blah blah i don't remember what else my cousin told me.

now my cousin is not a body builder, he's 160 pound ripped athelete, hence the super strong ligaments he has, and the reason why he can carry weight twice as much as his own, and the fact hes a double black belt in kung fu and tawkando and mui thai. dude is a swiming, martial arts, track and field champion and all that crap. Now if anyone knows, if my cousin decided to martial arts the guys ***, my cousin could have been later charged with using a weapon, as certified black belts are walking talking weapons in canadian law, so he decided not to do that, he was waiting for us to do that.lol

I told him too that he's lucky the guy backed off an got a little scared because he didn't expect my cousins balls to be that big, but i even told him like i tell everyone else, when you're on a bike dude, there is no point in getting into it with cagers, they will find a way to fk you over. but then again i don't know if you guys know people like my cousin, sweetest person after but if you get on their wrong side, the wrath of thor comes down. I don't know where such kind and cool headed people get that rage once you open their pandoras box. anyways...

As for the cager, he's so lucky my cousin decided to call it off, he was going to get F-ed up big time, we all met up, we found the car, and the club it was parked ouside, and lets just say, you don't wanna F with off duty, air force, special forces guys, its a good thing we're actually our cousins are good people and let this moron slide.

moral of the story, dosen't matter if its a teenage girl, a mother, a prick, a 50 year old, everyone who is in a cage HATES bikers, its just how it is, we just have to stick together thats all we can do. hit and run sucks, its happened to me as well, i was just thankful i was alive, and karma probably double f ed that person i bet. i notice these days, no one gets away, instant karma is there for anyone who tries to screw someone over, OP don't worry count your good graces, and believe me, the person who got away will get double f-ed in the *** soon.

Glad he's alright. It looked like at least a few cars were stopped to help. It doesn't do any good to completely grid lock the intersection with good samaritans if the rider is already being assisted. Better to get out of the way.
I was side swiped last year on Yonge at St Clair by a no-look lane changer. At least he was decent enough to pull over and apologize. Gotta be vigilant out there is all I can say.

Somewhat related.

I was in a city outdoor parking lot downtown at a ticket machine. As I was buying my ticket a woman in a black BMW slowly backed into a parked car. She hesitated for a second, then slowly pulled away and up to the end of the lot and waited for cars on the street to pass so she could drive away.

Seeing this, I walked over and calmly knocked on her window. Mentioned that she actually hit that car. Her reaction, "Did I?"

At this point I figured that maybe she really didn't know since it was quite low speed (though it did leave a mark). As she was sitting in her car I grabbed a few photos of her car, the damaged car, and their plates. She got visibly agitated and started calling me things that 12-year-old boys call each other and saying that it's none of my effing business. I mentioned that preventing hit and runs should be anyone's business. Afterwards, she left a note and I went back to make sure the note was accurate and left my own note with contact info. The victim let me know via email that he was very very happy that I helped out.

The point is that some people simply don't take responsibility for their actions if they can get out of it. In a way, they're very much like my Kindergardeners (except adult behaviour is more difficult to change). At the same time, some people go above and beyond to help out. I'm not bragging but I do like to set an example that others could follow. I've also met many individuals like this in both Canada and Korea.

It's unfortunate to hear stories of motorcyclists in distress with no one helping out. Fortunately, it's balanced by stories of times when people do help out quite a bit.

3 people were helping him? he really needs more?

Exactly what I thought. Enough people stopped and helped.

I guess no one actually watched the video, we are just jumping on the whiners' wagon... "oh the humanity, nobody loves us, because we are riders..."

Respect! good to know there still people with morals out there... i've had my brand new car keyed when it was sitting in a private security lot in the past, not even security helped me out, while it was sitting right under a camera, ive had my next car, all sooped up, windows smashed by a rock and gps and everything else stollen, again no help...seeing your story, i know how that guy must feel, really really happy for sure. I'd probably do the same thing you did, but people like this still get away....although with technology, the knowledge the average person has, its like God is working his majic, and crooks and the type are getting caught, Rob Ford for an example.. reading about corporate giants getting caught everyother day...I guess mother nature has had enough, its like that one T shirt i have...."And one day the Meek shall inherit the earth".lol

Minor bumps while parallel parking are to be expected in downtown, happens all the time. As long as there's no major damage, no one considers them hit and runs.

you statement on its own is simply saddening...

I completely agree that there is truth to the comment, but it just goes to show you how people view anothers property. my wifes work had an underground parking lot, her car was dinged so many times it was rediiculous, others in her office had the same things happen, some even admitted to intentionally opening doors or bumping into others cars because their cars had been screwed up over time so they basically chose to pay it forward...

and it spirals from there

Wow, just witnessed a hit an run today at my school, took a pic of the guys plate and gave it to the owner

brand new ML350 bluetec got backed into by a 1999 pontiac caravan whole front bumper was destroyed!
