Hit and run!!!

So today i go for my leisurely ride into Mississauga to the Tim Hortons at 403 and Dundas. Pull into a spot next to the drive through back in and throw my helmet on my mirror and continue to go inside. At the cash i place my order of a large double double and pay for it. While the lady is mixing my coffee i turn to my left and see my helmet on the asphalt. Thinking to myself how could that of happened. I had it securely on my right side mirror. As i continue to look to where i had parked my bike my heart hit the floor realizing my bike was on its side. I dash out of the tims to see what had happened as i am approached by two guys saying "some lady backed into your bike and took off!" i quickly ran to the fallen and lifted her up looking for the black SUV which was nowhere to be seen. cops were called, reports were made. i estimate the damage to be in the 1500-2000 price range. Its unfortunate that some people have no disregard for others this was my first vehicle i bought brand new and it only has 1200km on her. I am a strong beliver that what goes around comes around, i am sure she will get hers!

Usually Tim Horton's have cameras all around the property. Maybe if you ask management, they can find the footage and hopefully get a clear picture of the plate.
Good Luck.

One of the guys actually got the plate # and make and model the cops have all that info already but if she has no insurance i fear that i am up ***** creek

You are still covered even if she has no insurance, its a mandatory part of your insurance policy.

If you have witnesses that are willing to testify and possible footage, I wouldn't worry too much dude, you should be fine.

It sucks that it happened but it sounds like things will turn out okay since you have the plate. Hopefully she actually gets charged with hit and run.

It sucks that it happened, but you're golden there.. The other driver vehicle has been identified, so no insurance issues on your end.

This will never go to court. The fact that there is a witness is enough for the driver's insurance company to cough up the repair costs.

Unfortunately we have to add defensive parking to defensive driving. When I go to the hospital I put the bike under a low roof near the electrical room - car could not get in if it tried :D

Sucks tho - glad you had some witnesses

Nah...you will be fine...

but really...damage in the 2K range?

for a cracked front fender and side fairing?

but your not paying for it...who cares...

I would just add a 0 beside (20K) and charge it to their insurance.

Call your insurance company tomorrow and give them the plate#, police report#, and witness info. The police may or may not follow up with the plate# but if you make a claim than your insurance company will. They can pull a plate search and get the other persons info. They will then call up the responsible driver and if your witness confirms the make and model of the vehicle it will be closed as a not at fault accident. Your bike gets fixed up, you don't pay a deductible, your premiums are not affected and, the best part, the other driver is at fault and they're premiums go up. There's your Karma dude!

Some shmuck tipped my cbr and ran back in June, no witnesses or cameras to catch the driver unfortunately. May the ***** that tipped yours get royally anal fisted!

Damn that sucks... but its called property damage not a hit and run... hit and run would imply that you were hit. Just saying cause reading that title gave me a mini heart attack cause I thought someone hit you and ran.

It's still considered a hit and run as far as police and insurance is concerned, just one involving property damage and not personal injury.
