Here's one reason why people hate motorcyclists

I don’t doubt the OPP are collecting all the social media content these dbags have willingly shared online. It wouldn’t be the first time one has been busted by their choice to brag about their stupidity on social media. Look at me, look at me!

Dudes bike and gear alone are not exactly blending in either. Nothing like riding a bike that screams “look at me” with custom paint and the being a douchenozzle. There was someone in my area that drove a *very* unique Dodge Charger who had smoked out plates and black windows and was always reported on various FB groups for driving like a dbag as well…haven’t seen him around (or any further reports) since the spring. It’s always the “look at me” crowd who seem to do the dumbest things and then posting it online.

Edit: Dodge guy outed himself on a few FB pages as well, forgot that part.

This guy outed himself on a post in that GTA Motorcycle Facebook page for doing almost 300km/hr, then blocked me so I couldn't see the other responses. I will laugh when I see that his H2 has been seized or the gofund me for his meat crayoned butt.

Holy smokes, just went on that page and waded into the comments. Reminds me why I bailed from FB long ago. I was an idiot kid once, but I pray I wasn't ever that stunned.

A big thank-you to everyone here for largely contributing to the conversation and raising rather than lowering the level. Feel like I need to read a book or do some complicated work on my bike to scrub the stupid from my brain...

I've had some former students linking the videos and tagging themselves in them on various social platforms. They got a finger wag and an 'unfriend/follow' from me immediately.

So what's the big deal if you weren't involved or affected. right???

WRONG.

A friend lost a friend in a car vs motorcycle crash and the car driver is pulling the "He was speeding" card, justifying the death as the motorcyclist's fault.

The more the public sees of this nonsense the more they are prepared to believe it's always the motorcyclists fault. That includes you.

When's the last time you saw a news report focusing on the safe motorcyclists. Hooligans are an everyday occurrence and in a disproportionate number.

If you are involved in a crash with your motorcycle the evil eye is on you.

Looks like he may have deleted his posts. I can't see them anyways. He does seem to go through bikes pretty quick.

Sometimes that’s the “oh ****” reaction after they’ve got a visit from the fuzz.

Colour me surprised.

401EB fairly open this morning going to work at 6:30am. For some reason out of 4 lanes, 2 of them empty, a small white bike thought the best place to pass was between me and another car instead of the 2 wide open lanes on the right.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Guess he needs the thrill. No clue. I would’ve just passed on the right where it was safer.

You're making me be that guy, but...

Is it legal to pass on the right in Ontario?

In Ontario, drivers have a right to pass you on the right – and when they do, it might be a sign that you're in the wrong lane, police said. “It's not illegal to pass on the right as long as you can do it safely,” said Constable Scott Stratton, a spokesman for the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division.Aug 25, 2024

"Did you know that it’s NOT illegal to cross a solid line on a highway, for the purposes of passing? The line is there to tell drivers that it might not be safe to pass in that area of highway but it’s technically not against the law.

That said, you can still be charged with making an unsafe pass if an accident results from your lane change, so it’s not a free license to changes lanes at will either.

Changing lanes in an intersection, however, IS against the law and spectacularly dangerous (UPDATE: *thanks to a helpful comment, I found out that I was wrong. Technically, it is not illegal on Ontario, however, I stand by my opinion that it IS spectacularly dangerous.) With people turning right and left, a vehicle changing lanes within the intersection is just inviting an accident."

BTW, I'm not defending any of those riders, just pointing out that many people believe that there are some laws which actually don't exist.
This can be quite a annoyance when no so bright people are trying to be safe.
In my neighborhood there is a elementary school that the school buses pull up in front of with their four way flashers on well in advance of last bell.
This gets some not so observant motorists to stop and wait and wait thinking that the four ways flashers mean that they need to stop and block traffic for the half hour till the bus pulls away.
If you are silly enough to filter through this mess on your motorcycle they lay on their horns, make gestures and film you on their phones to show off their virtue or something.

Sure there’s no law against passing on the right. I guess I have to accept living in bizarro opposite world where the further left lanes are all jammed and I cruise on by on the right.

In fact I do it my entire commute, which is consistently faster if i just stick to the furthest right lane on the 401.

I suppose if everyone is doing the opposite, that’s the new norm and therefore technically safer!
