Here we go. Amendment to Stunt Driving

Screwed. Just set the cruise and get comfy.
Agree. Absolute liability offense. The reason you are going fast doesnt matter. Even getting passed a single car safely can be hard with this if they park in the corners and go 20+ over on the straights. It will quickly become safer and less legally perilous to ignore the lines and pass as the corner opens s up so you have a sight line but the vehicle hasn't had a chance to add speed yet.

His math was off but we knew what he meant. In an 80, 129 is probably speeding, not racing (although cop can lay racing just because they feel like it). In a 70, 109 is the upper limit.l

They have recently repaved a long stretch of Centennial Lake Road, heading west from Calabogie and it just needs line markings painted. Within the construction zone, the speed limit on this road has been lowered in both directions of travel to 50km/hr, which is normal. However once the construction zone ends, there are no 80km/hr signs posted along the westbound direction for another 20km until reaching Matawatchan Road. It's just an oversight, where the construction crew needs to install a sign that says "50km/hr zone ends" for those travelling westbound. There are no more speed limit signs for that entire stretch heading westbound.

Heading eastbound to the construction zone going the opposite direction toward Calabogie, the section between Matawatchan Rd and the construction is 80km/hr the whole way. Once the construction zone starts, it lowers to 50km/hr. So now along the same stretch of road, one direction of travel is legally 50km/hr and the other is 80km/hr in the area outside the construction zone (which is an awesome stretch of road!).

Until that construction is complete, just plan your route to ride it eastbound and remove all risks of having a seizure.

Ah, so this is what you meant!

Not in the People's Republic of Hamilton. There are no 80 kmh rural roads. Period. Because think of the homeless.......or some other Marxist crap.

OK, you're riding up north. You get behind 3 cars all together. The lead guy is doing 10 below speed limit. In order to pass all 3 cars you have to really gun it. The speed limit is an 80, but in order to pass all 3 in the distance you have, you'll be going at least 40 over for a short period of time. If a cop ahead is doing radar, are you screwed? This was my situation yesterday. It makes you think when you're trying to pass 2 or 3 cars.
I do lot of riding up north, not too often is anyone 20 under, if they are the two guys behind him are as anxious to make a pass as you are.

Might mean you wait a minute or two. At 40 over in an 80 zone you’re not in 172 land, so big ticket at best.

Thanks for posting that. That's helpful because there were a number of other roads we were on where I did not see a speed limit sign and the GPS indicated 80 km/hr, but I was nervous that it was possibly a 60km/hr zone and the GPS was wrong.

I'm still a bit wary though of the Centennial Lake Road issue, because the last posted sign an operator sees is the 50km/hr sign while in the construction zone, which is a standard speed limit sign and not one indicating that the lowered speed is specific to the construction zone. If that sign stated it was 50km/hr due to the construction zone and then they had a construction zone ends sign, I would be back up to normal speed. However yesterday after the construction zone ended, there was literally no signage at all regarding speed limits until the end of the road 20km later.

In this case I'm wary that an officer could state that I was doing 90 in a 50 zone and charge me accordingly. The likelihood of that happening is slim to none, but for 20 km of remaining road, it means I'll play it careful and ride closer to 80km/hr.

I said 10 under the speed limit. When you head up north, most people are doing 95 to 100 in an 80 and most cops won't pull you over for that. If you are going 40 over in an 80, that's loss of license for 30 days and your bike impounded for 2 weeks now. That's the change we are talking about. Now, some cops might understand you were passing a couple of cars, but there are some cops up north that would love to impound a motorcycle.

Its 50 over in an 80 zone, not 40. For speed limits <80 kmph, that's where 40 and above falls under the 172

People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier once discounted NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh's chances of winning a seat in the House of Commons by saying he'd "never get elected with that rag on his head," according to an affidavit filed recently in an Ottawa court case.

I'm sure that won't satisfy you but does me.

Oh and the fact he's anti vax doesn't sit well with me either.

Yup. Looks like a duck... Sounds like a duck.

Haha. Closest related thread. Kerry Schmidt did an interview with Brian Gast from the Insurance Bureau of Canada related to vehicle modifications. IBC guy was way more out of touch that I expected.

Approximately 34 seconds in, every vehicle modification increases material risk. I would argue that could go either way. If you competently put on better brakes (but aren't a moron and put on brakes that need heat in them to work), you have reduced the risk. Not every change increases risk.

At 48 seconds, modifications make it a "street racing machine". Fack. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Wanker.

I would have hoped someone in his position was reasonably objective and not completely biased and not allowing their personal opinion to be influenced by pesky reality. It would have been faster for him to just say, everything you do, we charge you more because we can.

I'm guessing that quote, which Bernier denies, is part of Warren Kinsella's desperate attempt to avoid losing his appeal over a libel suit he lost.

Just make everything illegal. That'll solve the problem in a backwards sort of way.

Well, amongst what's already been mentioned:

- They want to repeal legislation condemning islamophobia. So I guess islamophobia would be OK again.

- They want to rewrite hate speech laws making most of the festering cesspool of hate that used to be acceptable....legal again I guess?

- They want to eliminate multiculturalism funding.

- They want to reduce immigration.

You can argue all you want that none of the above has to do with "race" and is more to do with religion or whatever else you want to use to try to justify ones views, but you'd have to be incredibly naive to not hear the dog whistles in all the above.

Exactly....
