You can get simple set-up pretty cheap, but yeah a good one will cost at least $5k.It's really the perfect set up for it.
OT question. you using turntables or are you on CDJs now? I was away from the game a long time and was just looking at the new equipment. I was surprised to see how expensive some of the equipment is these days, especially a good Pioneer set up - $4000-5000.
I gave away my turntables and sold almost all my records, but first I digitized my whole collection. So now I'm using Pioneer CDJ's with a Rane Empath mixer, off a MacBook Pro running Serato through the KRK VXT 6's as my studio monitors with a Yorkville 100w wedge monitor for some extra bass.
I really like this set up and it's so much fun to play on. Standing in the pocket in the booth sounds amazing. The old school bar that serves as the setting for the whole thing is just the icing on the cake.
