Helmet advice!

Here's to another RPS-10. Great helmet although a little on the loud side but that will very from rider to rider and bike to bike.

This is the response you get when I'm bored and have an iPhone.
I'm seriously considering the HJC RPHA. How do you guys like the shield lock in the middle?

I love it, it is extremely easy to both lock and unlock the helmet with gloves on, and keeps your gloves (or hands if you don't wear gloves) off the shield itself. Also the Lorenzo graphic lid looks amazing

Yep, what he said. ^^^ Easy to operate with either hand. Very handy. The latch does not interfere with vision if riding with the visor cracked. It will be in the way if you ride with the visor open, but I never do.

The Lorenzo lid is shown on HJC's site, but so far, is not in Parts Canada's catalogue, nor do I see one on ePay.

Yup no issues. Only downfall most places don't stock the replacement visors so your typically looking at 1-3 days from most retailers. Even without the lock the visor is held more firmly in place then any of my previous HJC's. The entire helmet just seems to be better made then the other lines of HJC's.

Thanks everyone. Any issues with fogging? Hows the ventilation? Trying to decide which one matches my 1000.

damn really? Hopefully one of the retailers at the show have some, I'm looking to get either a dark smoke or mirrored visor for my RPS-10 there

None that I've come across, and I've used it for 45+ mins in below 0 temps. It has a pinlock system (the helmet even comes with an insert so you don't have to drop extra money on one right off the bat). I have heard that they will eventually fog, but I haven't had mine fog up yet.

Ventilation is exceptional. I wear a moisture wicking balaclava most of the time which also helps keep me cool and you can definately feel the air traveling through the helmet. As for fogging with the Pinlock absolutely zero issues since it effectively turns a single lens into a double. The only thing is the seam where the two lenses meet sometimes aggravates me as it's in my constant field of vision. Without the Pinlock in there is minimal fogging if any. Most of the time I have the visor cracked one notch anyways to allow fresh air in.

No problems with fogging when the Pinlock is used. I don't experience any interference with vision, as Rbjeepthing reported.

Ventilation on top is excellent. However, the lower vent is useless. Open or closed, I can't tell the difference. Not a big deal though; I can ride with the visor cracked at lower speeds. The lower vent, incidentally, has been redesigned on the RPHA-10.

likely due to the riding position differences between your Thruxton and my SS. Very good point tio bring up that helmets react differently depending on what style of bike you are on and also the aerodynamics of that bike.

Yeah the RPS-10/RPHA-10 are racing helmets first. The front vent does nothing really when riding upright, but after testing it yesterday I did notice some ok airflow in a 3/4 to full tuck position. Those top vents though feel like they flow a ton of air, I could really feel it on my head, even for in town riding
