Parts of the budget are impossible to hold , work trucks were 35k 5 yrs ago and now 50k . Everything is up. Where it’s nuts , Hamilton cops want a new marine unit boat with a helicopter pad. For the bay , where your never more than a mile from shore . The mounted unit in Toronto is well over a couple million bucks . They need 100 new hires because 10% of the force is off on leave . But we don’t want car theft going up .

Above chows pay grade but adjudicate psa charges asap. Probably a significant percentage of that 10% off with full pay can be fired. That's effectively more than a 5% increase in police funding at zero cost.

I read 17% of Hamilton force is on PSTD , paid leave , short term disability. And they need to hire to fill the vacancy roles . Yikes.

They are beneficial in crowds for many reasons. Whether the benefit is commensurate with the cost is a very reasonable question.

Horses are amazing when you need to control a crowd or break up a protest . They are actually valuable in a city like Toronto . Hamilton horses are decorative , like the RCMP . They need horses like fish need bicycles .
