Haha i cant remember the last time i saw an hd rider ride by me with anything but a nasty, ****** off, mean mug on his face. Their the worst of the worst
Not to add to much more fuel to the harley vs. jap bike debate...
It boggles my mind that a manufacturer in this day and age can release a bike with an 8 litre tank, charge a premium, and people will buy it. Introducing the HD forty eight. Inside Motorcycle mag did a road test on it and the low fuel light came on between 30-80kms depending on how it was ridden.
" don't celebrate nor support failure in any department, and when it comes to motorcycles, Harley Davidson is a failure, plain and simple. They thrive and survive on support from the ignorant and uneducated."
Man are you for real? Wait let me guess your in IT,still living with your "old" parents and your extensive and higher than most education has been provided for you.
I don't really know your story, but isn't it common how many generalize.
I own a softail and it's a great bike, in fact I enjoy it so much. I also own sport bikes and a dedicated track bike. They are all good.
Here's a thought maybe you and others like yourself should consider. Maybe , just maybe, the execs at HD want to attract the fat, ignorant and uneducated, they are in fact the majority of consumers ,are easily influenced by mass advertising and impulsive in their buying habits. The perception of riding a HD allows them to shelve their otherwise less than fortunate life.
...I loved it. Something raw and visceral about the whole thing. Wife is supporting me on this as she has always like HD's. Going to test ride a Dyna Fat Bob. I never would have thought it after 30 years of sport bikes...
DJM. I'd really like to know. Have you made a final decision yet? Purchased your HD? (The answer may already be somewhere in this thread. But quite frankly, I have no desire to filter through some of the foolishness being said here).
I'm waiting for the video to find out. A friend of mine might buy the 2011 Kawi 900 Classic this week. Silly good price for a new bike and exactly what he requires, light weight (bad knees), sufficient power, fits him (stretches out the legs for the knees), and looks awesome to him. A Hog was what he was looking for but he really likes this 900. I was thinking a Super Glide but he doesn't want to spend that much.
My condolences, My thoughts & prayers are with you & you're family at this difficult time. where can i send the flowers or make a donation?-Ty pure tragedy.
What did the op end up getting? And to the rest: you're a tool if you're saying **** about him buying a harley. Half of you are hanging out in your gixxers at timmies rather than riding or geared up to match every colour on your bike so you can look the pimpest when you have no care for safety.
Obviously the op isn't buying a harley for it's technology, but more for the harley image and culture. It's why a lot of you buy Apple... not because it's better because it's either cooler and you can be happy with that image or it fits your needs/lifestyle.

slapped with chrome and leather sold to foolish fashion lemmings and bad-*** wannabees for unjustified amounts of money. If you fail to realize that, I can't really help you there.
Thats not just a harley thing... I've seen the same look on suzuki, yamaha, kawasaki etc etc.... Its a typical cruiser look. Some of us like it. Me personally I'm not a big fan of the power ranger look. But to each their own. Also just cus we like cruisers doesnt mean we are all chromed out... some.. like me... dont like a lot of chrome.
I can't figure out why anyone would want most of the Harleys on the market today. All that chrome to clean and polish! Even if you're patient enough to do a decent job of it, when would you ever find time to ride it?
Again chrome is not a harley thing... I've seen more chrome on non HD bikes then I have ever seen on a HD (agave I have yet to see yours in person and its an exception)
AMEN!!! I hated harleys up until I finally rode one... and honestly I am ashamed of my presumptions about them. Now I am fully planning to get one for my next bike when my vstar dies.
Sorry, busy weekend. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I looked at the V-Rod muscle and the seating position was brutal. I felt like a clamshell trying to reach the bar and the forward controls all at once. Looked at a 1200 Custom, thought that was really nice looking and I liked the lighter weight. Might make a good transitional bike for me to see if I want to continue on with the heavies in a few years.
Met a lot of really cool, laid back people at the dealerships and BBQ parties. I have no reservations about hanging out with them. Stereotypes be damned.

If you want... Gilligan is working the demo truck. They are on a break right now breaking in the 2012s then they start the demo round again.... Msg me and I'll keep you posted on the dates and where they are. I know the first month they are around Toronto. London Niagara Toronto, Missisauga etc etc.
Take em out for a spin. Ive sat on a few and liked or didnt like. Also I've had the ride change my mind about the seat before. Plus seat is changable.
Thanks. I have the dates for Windsor, Chatham and London which are the closest dealers. I visited all 3 on Saturday (long day). Duke's has a 2011 1200 Custom in Orange that my wife absolutely loves, and I want to include her in this purchase decision. She was more *meh* with the Fat Bob and V-Rod. I'm really thinking of getting this one, since I don't see that colour advertised for the 2012's.

Cat, lots of people will assume things before they even try it! I'm glad you took your time to try a Harley and it did fit your riding/life style. All bikes are beautiful and some fits riders perfectly and some don't. it's a shame when people just hate a bike manufacturer as if it was their stepfather who molested them as kids!!! Take TYBALT71 for example, so many post in this thread and zero useful contribution, more or less a waste of bandwidth. http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/member.php?13555-TYBALT71
